You may not be instantly familiar with cultural visionary Allee Willis, but the songs she wrote just may be on your iPod.

Allee’s hit songs have sold over 50 million records, including Earth Wind & Fire’s “Boogie Wonderland,” The Pointer Sisters’ “Neutron Dance,” and the Pet Shop Boys’ “What Have I Done To Deserve This.” Allee even won an Emmy for her #1 hit, “I’ll Be There For You”, the theme from Friends, and a Tony for The Broadway musical version of “The Color Purple.”

But one of her most unusual musical projects was discovering the Del Rubio Triplets, the blond go-go boot wearing guitar trio, in real-life triplets, who became the toast of the late 80s camp scene for their funky appearances on The Golden Girls, Married with Children and Pee Wee’s Christmas Special.

You can feel Allee’s influence over the music and television of the 80s, but in the early 1990s she had the bright idea of bringing the music industry onto the Internet by starting an online social network — the music industry didn’t bite.

“Is chocolate the meaning of life?” thought the fudge whale as he swam deeper and deeper into the chocolaty sea. Little did Fudgie know, that this would be his last journey into the rich, dark brown abyss.

Puppeteer and performance artist Marsian De Lellis is fascinated with creating stories in which childhood icons meet a tragic end. On the weekend of May 7- Marisan will perform “Fudgie’s Death” an excerpt from “Growing Up Linda” a puppet play based on his fictitious take on the Carvel Ice Cream family.

You may recall Marsian’s insightful take on the Lady Gaga and Grace Jones debate, or you may remember his earlier appearance this year when he introduced his other work “The Bride of Wildenstein” about the odd looking plastic surgery addict and New York City socialite, Jocelyn Wildenstein.

Although Jo-Jo was expected, there was no one to greet him at the back door upon his arrival so he entered into what was the kitchen. On the stove sat a large boiling pot. Always the curious sort, Jo-Jo spied into the cauldron and to his surprise he saw an actual human skull rolling about with some flesh still on it! Yes, a human skull.

At that point, the owner of the mannequins came into the room and saw Jo-Jo looking nervous and tried to calm him down by saying “It’s okay, it’s from Tibet.”

What would you do in this situation?

We would have run away, but Jo-Jo REALLY wanted those three mannequins, so he followed the man into his basement to retrieve the dummies. He is that committed to his art that he’d have risked his own head by following a strange man who had a head in a pot boiling on his stove to get what he needed to do what he does. Wow. When Divine shouted “Who wants to die for art?” in John Water’s film Female Trouble, Jo-Jo certainly would have been the first to jump up and be shot by the gun-wielding trampoline-bouncing drag queen.

Jo-Jo survived the encounter and his friends, who could barely believe his story, convinced him to go to the police. Afterwards, Jo-Jo spent the entire next day talking to news reporters and camera crews from his studio in Wicker Park in Chicago. We were lucky to chat him at the end of a long day.

Join us as Marc Felion and me, Fausto Fernós travel to the Wicker Park neighborhood in Chicago to talk with Jo-Jo in his studio about this incredible story. His friends from the band Black Box Fever were over at the studio as well. Check them out and we might play their music real soon. We’re also counting down the days until Law and Order turns this story into one of their “shows ripped from the headlines.”

Project Runway Season Four was filled with a lot of great talent and we are glad Steven got as far as he did. He was “auffed” or kicked off of the show after re-styling a wedding dress of a women who have lost a significant amount of weight.

When given the challenge to create a new outfit out of a woman’s former favorite “fat clothes,” Steven was given the impossible task of transforming a woman’s wedding dress. As soon as I saw that dress, I knew whomever got it was going to lose.

The judges said that Steven turned her “wedding dress into a funeral dress.”

Still, Steven doesn’t shy away from talking about his design choices and explaining his reasons for making it.

Steven is a blast! We had a lot of fun with this Chi-town fashionista. He loved our idea for “Project Runway: The Musical!”

Just imagine the incomparable Elizabeth Berkley as chief “auffer” Heidi Klum and Bea Arthur as style guru Tim Gunn singing the breakout hit “Make it Work! Make it Work! Make it Work!” It’ll also feature pop sensation Gloria Estefan as Latina Nina Garcia and a dancing orange as the orange skin toned judge Michael Kors.

Of course all the contestants would play themselves and there would be awesome fashion show montages throughout the show. Jack Mackenroth is already working on his routine. Check him out in this over the top Flashdance number.

Since leaving Project Runway, Steven has spent a lot of time attending charity functions. He’s hosting Make a Statement: Design for the Cure, which showcases top fashions from Chicago’s favorite boutiques and rising designers, to raise HIV/AIDS awareness among Chicago’s 21 – 35 demographic. Presented by the AIDS Foundation of Chicago Junior Board, the event will feature models wearing t-shirts with such statements as: “Condoms: For Wieners Not Wallets,” “AIDS Apathy Makes Your Ass Look Big,” and “HIV Only Needs One Chance.”
