On FOF #1504 Trends and Predictions for 2012, I predicted that in bio-technology, scientists would start performing foreskin restoration using stemcells from the discarded foreskins of circumcized babies.  And now, just days later, the Huffington Post, is reporting that scientists have been testing stem cells on lab rats in the race to make a better rat penis. How long will it be before a stem cell penis cream hits the shelves?

The larva of the caddis fly (or casemaker fly) is known for constructing dense sheath-like cocoons from whatever materials it finds on the floors of streambeds, as a form of protective camouflage. In 2007, artist Hubert Duprat gave a lucky bunch of larva some bits of precious metal and gemstones to work with, and they made themselves look absolutely fabulous! Only trouble is, now they won’t be camouflaged anywhere, except maybe some wealthy miser’s hoard.

Green plastic sheep on the roadside in the UK have to be penned because of motorists concerns. Apparently the green plastic sheep are pretty realistic and motorists worry that they are stranded on a roundabout.

Looks like this 1984 short film Frankenweenie, by Tim Burton is becoming a full fledged movie in 2012.

From IMDB- When young Victor’s pet dog Sparky (who stars in Victor’s home-made monster movies) is hit by a car, Victor decides to bring him back to life the only way he knows how. But when the bolt-necked “monster” wreaks havoc and terror in the hearts of Victor’s neighbors, he has to convince them (and his parents) that despite his appearance, Sparky’s still the good loyal friend he’s always been.

From what I can tell, this guy who really likes Superman has taught his cocktatiel to sing the Super Mario theme song. There’s a lot going on in here.

Apparently Panda’s don’t do a very good job of digesting food, in fact only absorbing about 30% of what they consume – the rest gets passed right on through – and apparently is great fodder for tea.

A college lecturer in China (is that the same as a College Professor in the US – I’m not sure) is convinced that by using the Panda poo as a base for a tea he can steep the powerful components of Bamboo into a beverage that he believes will help cure cancer and will run about $40,000 a pound!

Apparently “It has a mature, nutty taste and a very distinctive aroma while it’s brewing.”

Who wants to stop by for some tea?

Heidi the cross eyed opossum.

Sadly, Heidi the cross-eyed possum that captured the world’s attention isn’t playing opossum anymore. She was put to sleep after several weeks of suffering and being able to move. Heidi is said to have gotten her famously crossed eyes as a result of poor nutrition.

Graeme the cat goes to the train station everyday and waits for his owner, who, based on the rainbow collar Graeme sports, is probably a lesbian.

One of my happiest memories was in 2006, right after we had had a tremendously exciting listener meet-up in West Hollywood, where hundreds of fans from California showed up to watch a live taping of the podcast, was when Mike Rocco and the LGBT staff from Disneyland gave us a behind the scenes tour and took us all over the park.

Thanks for the memories Mike and Disneyland!

For years I’ve listened over and over to the “Enchanted Tiki Room” song from the Disney album Greatest Hits, and wondered what that show must have been like. Mike told me the theme park has keep it running almost exactly the same since the attaction opened to the public in 1963. They represent Disney’s first successful stab at creating the now widely accepted Audio-Animatronics medium.

The music was written by the Sherman Brothers, best known for writing the music to Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Where the birds sing words and the flowers croon.

There’s something wonderuflly kooky about the amazing voice over actors Purvis Pullen and Wally Boag as they sassily diss each other like drag queens, trying to get the audience’s attention.

My voice may not be beautiful, but my profile is out of this world. The problem is... it's not far enough out of this world.

Today the attraction is one of the most underated treasues at Disneyland, since most of the tourist flock to the attractions they are more familiar with, like the Indiana Jones ride or Space Mountain.
