On FOF #1504 Trends and Predictions for 2012, I predicted that in bio-technology, scientists would start performing foreskin restoration using stemcells from the discarded foreskins of circumcized babies.  And now, just days later, the Huffington Post, is reporting that scientists have been testing stem cells on lab rats in the race to make a better rat penis. How long will it be before a stem cell penis cream hits the shelves?

With Guy Fawkes Day behind us, guess they weren’t so successful.

Some folks do not get it, and have no clue how to use social media. Thankfully there are video bloggers like Miles Jai to school us on why begging your friends to like your status is a complete waste of time.

Touching, beautiful and digital. Although you’ve seen many of the make-shift Steve Jobs memorials found at Apple Retail stores around the world, one group has taken it to the next level at the Munich, Germany Apple Store.

One of the most important legacies of Steve Jobs is the way his work inspired people to change the way they think. “Design is not just how it looks like, Design is how it works.”

Thinking differently was so important to Jobs that in the late 90s, upon his return to Apple he launched the “Think Different” an advertising campaign that cemented the computer company with creative professionals.

“Here’s to the crazy ones” was a poem that narrated the original one-minute commercial featuring black-and-white footage of 17 iconic 20th century personalities. It included Martin Luther King Jr., John Lennon with Yoko Ono, Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Ted Turner, Maria Callas, Mahatma Gandhi, Amelia Earhart, Alfred Hitchcock, Martha Graham and Jim Henson with Kermit the Frog. Now add Steve Jobs to the list.

Originally narrarated by Richard Dreyfuss, Steve Jobs also narrated this version of Apple’s famous Think Different ad in 1997 that never aired. It remains to this day one of my personal favorites and represents his vision (and mine) for a different way of thinking.

No “one more thing.” Right up until the end, many folks held out hope for a “one more thing”, the traditional surprise ending to Jobs keynotes. The highly anticipated iPhone 5 did a no-show, blasting over a year of rumors and mock-ups of a fancy shmancy new design for Apple’s flagship smart phone. When Apple delayed its release of a new phone until the fall of this year, baby our expectations were like children on Christmas morning on crack. Surely, if we were to wait more than the usual year between versions of the iPhone, the result must be something spectacular.

I always thought the i in iPhone stood for invisible.

I think it was. With a faster processor, improved camera lens and sensor, people’s new iPhones will hopefully hold their own when it comes to taking pictures against their old point and shoots. You can crop your photos, tweet or facebook your pic without having to launch Facebook’s disastrously slow iPhone app. Hopefully the shaky camera you get from shooting movies in HD is a thing of the past. And now, you have full 1080P movies, which will look stunning on your hi-definition TV, or your rickety old CRT analog TV which we still use here at the FOF home studio.

People at Sprint can finally get their accounts on a new iPhone, and the telecom duality wars don’t seem as scary anymore.

One of my favorite new features is Siri, the AI audio interface that learns your voice and commands and helps you do all sorts of things like set your alarm clock, look for a Chinese food restaurant open after midnight and text your “friend with benefits” that you want to hook up. Good boy.

I can think of other things I’d like to see slapping his face other than a blue water balloon.

If everything is better in slow motion, will we be seeing our porn get the same high speed camera treatment?

Really folks, get a hold of yourself. It’s not like your work station just blew up in your face and you got melted by burning plasma.

Prostitution is legal in Germany, and prostitutes can obtain legal work contracts, including a health insurance, unemployment assurance,nursing care insurance and a pension insurance.
Therefore in order to establish more tax equity the German city of Bonn introduced a parking meter for prostitutes who work on the street. Each prostitute  has to pay €6  ($8.60 ) in tax per night to work on the street. Prostitutes will pay the fee at a parking meter like machine and receive an automatically printed ticket. The ticket they have to carry with them and  they to show it on demand to tax inspectors. Also sex workers are only allowed on one street in the city. Last year, authorities erected six parking bays, surrounded by wooden screens on three sides, permitting clients to meet prostitutes without being watched from other parked cars.

After a noisy backlash on Twitter, Microsoft apologized, saying: “Apologies to everyone if our earlier Amy Winehouse ‘download’ tweet seemed purely commercially motivated. Far from the case, we assure you.”

Here’s a pro-tip for anyone who needs to be sincere about their apologies: it’s not technically an apology when your statement is conditional. If you mean it, don’t use the word “if” in your apology. Acknowleding you made a mistake and taking ownership of it is the right thing to do. Moving the attention away from yourself and onto others by making it conditional “I’m sorry IF I offended you” just makes you sound like an even bigger marketing douchebag.

Here’s what I would have liked to see them say: “Whoops! Sorry for our earlier Amy Winehouse tweet, some of you thought it was in poor taste, and we agree. Here’s a coupon to download any of her songs on us. Sorry.”

Why are marketing people so bad at marketing and just being decent human beings?

Man Arrested After Wife Poses as Teen on Facebook

Apparantly this woman decided to create a fake profile and sign on to Facebook to get some information about what her husband was up to.

She found out that he had stuck a GPS tracker on his wife’s vehicle, was going to dissapear with their children and was making suggestions that he was going to find someone to “take care of her”.  He was also hoping that “Jessica” who looks 15 would go away with him.

It’s not paranoia if they’re really out to get you is it?

This reminded me a bit of Tim Webster‘s story talked about on the Feast of Fun podcast #1390.  In his case he had a lot of craziness and bad things happen to him as a result of an internet stalker that used the internet’s cloak of anonmitiy to his advantage.

In this woman’s case she prevented bad things from happening to her and her children by using the internet’s ability to mask one’s identity to her advantage.

Be careful what you say to strangers on the net people!

“I wanted to buy an iPad 2, but I didn’t have the money. When I surfed the internet I found an advert posted online by agent saying they were able to pay RMB20,000 to buy a kidney.”

The future of the Internet belongs to websites that allow interesting folks to do interesting things together, whether it’s for sex, politics, art or just trolling around.

Finding people who compliment your talents rather than people who are just like you is the key to a successful collaboration, but the Internet doesn’t always make that an easy task because it involves making assumptions on who we’re most likely to be compatible with.

Today comedian Heather Gold joins us to take a look at some new sites for collaborating and how the Internet is changing the way we relate to each other.

Recently, Heather hosted a panel at SXSW on how artists and musicians find new ways to make work together that will sustain their careers. She also just got 20 students to come out as LGBT at a collaborative performance she hosted at Gettysburg College. How did she do it? Hypnosis?
