Some days you just feel like browsing back on those oldies but goodies. On today’s show our pal Michael Lehet joins us to reminisce on the golden moments of the internet, before viral videos, podcasts and blogs captured our heart and minds, the glory days of Web 1.0.
Oh that great phenomena that amused us all at the turn of the century. You remember it don’t you? Dancing Hamsters, Bonsai Kittens, Bert is Evil, Fat Chicks in Party Hats, the British Coffee Pot Webcam and Joe Spark’s Radiskull and Devil Doll series captured a huge audience without ANY video at all.
The High Fructose Corn Syrup lobby must be sweating it because they launched an ad campaign on how nobody can seem to explain why this sweetener is bad for you. We can, and we explain why this controversial sweetener is so pervasive yet toxic on today’s show.

Today Apple is announcing some juicy new products included the rumored new fancy shmancy iTunes, the application you all use to listen to our show. Good thing, since the world might end on Wednesday.
The Large Hadron Collider, a 17 mile long doughnut-shaped tunnel that will smash sub-atomic particles together at nearly the speed of light will be activated this Wednesday by the European Organization for Nuclear Research. Some scientists are raising the alarm that the experiment might result in devastating phenomena, including quasars and black holes which might wipe out not only all life on earth, but the globe itself. What can we do to protect ourselves?
We think you’ll probably be so involved with your new iPod touch you won’t notice the world has ended and probably just go about your business.
One real thing that could end life as we know it is global warming and its a good thing that “going green” is all the rage right now. Everyone is doing their part to save the environment, even polar bears!
Green-colored polar bears are drawing questions from puzzled visitors at a Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens in central Japan as three normally white polar bears changed their color in July after swimming in a pond with an overgrowth of algae.
Zoo officials say high temperatures in July and August and less-frequent water changes because of conservation efforts caused an algae growth in the bear pond and safety moat. The bears are expected to return to their natural color when the algae growth subsides in November.
How to clock your favorite lady’s little friend, Green feminine hygiene products, Google’s ocean powered floating servers and Bed Bath and Beyond’s employee’s lack of common sense.
This podcast just might save your life during an apocalypse people- Feast of Fools.

I’m not THAT bad! *sob*
Hey Boys – Thanks for having me on!!!
Here’s a link to that 7-Up Story I was talking about:

I can eat all the High Fructose Corn Syrup I want, right? If the black holes are coming tomorrow what difference does it make! If they did accidentally make a mini black hole maybe they could make a second one to suck the first one up. Then maybe they would suck each other and just turn inside out and make a cartoon pop. The world would be saved.
Cliff Dix: lol@u! Two black holes will theoretically merge to create a larger one. The ones LHC will make are supposed to evaporate due to Hawking radiation
Not listened to this show yet but I can’t wait!

Fun show, guys! Love when Michael makes an appearance. It feels goooooood to finally have the cold, hard facts when someone confronts me regarding my opinions on high fructose corn syrup. (It literally happens several times a day!)
Just tell them- the cells of a human body can not easily break down this sugar. Like alcohol, your LIVER breaks it down. Easy enough to explain. Its a fake sugar, and the body doesn’t know how to break it down.
Just say no to HFCS.
Hi guys! Good show.
See you miss me as you’re always talking about bears. This time its polar bears.
I am still getting plenty of hellos from my visit with you – so expect to hear from me again in the next few weeks.
And yes I’ll load that picture you sent me a few weeks ago so I always have a face on your show.
Attention Torchwood fans – for “Big Bang Day” BBC Radio 4 is producing a 45 minute special at 2:15 today called Torchwood Lost Souls

You should also mention that corn is a very destructive crop which requires large amounts of chemicals because it literally destroys the soil its grown in which creates a vicious cycle of chemical fertilizers. Great show guys! You had me in stitches, more so than usual.
Any monoculture crop is destructive- The natives use to plant corn, squash and beans together to keep the spoil in tact.

I guess it’s good the world wasn’t swallowed by a black hole. Who would they sell high fructose corn syrup to then?
Regarding Bed Bath & Beyond the manager of the store was charged by police with failure of duty to report dependency, neglect and abuse, a Class B misdemeanor which carries a maximum $1,000 fine.
Here’s a statement from BB&B:
Regarding the incident in the parking lot at our Bed Bath & Beyond store in Lexington, Kentucky this past Saturday, we take this matter very seriously, are very disappointed in the way we handled it, and are relieved that the child is safe.
We train our associates on how to respond to common emergency situations and, again, are disappointed that we did not handle this situation the way we would have expected.
We have no policy that should have prevented a call to 911 from our store. While this was an isolated incident, we are using this occurrence to re-train our associates nationwide to avoid a similar situation in the future.
