FOF #868 – French Fruit Flies

What else do pandas do? Lounge around of course.Just a few more days until Halloween! What are you dressing up as? When we’re not busy podcasting, we love to dress up as pandas. Panda, panda, don’t you wanna panda, panda?

On today’s show we’ve got Curtis Jensen, director of marketing for Steamworks- with an update on San Francisco’s struggle with it’s own Halloween Celebration and his return to dressing up in drag! Yoo hoo!

Nirmalpal and Curtis' Halloween costumes from years pastAfter all, in the late 80s Curtis was well known in Salt Lake City, Utah as Marlene Lovebird- one of the hottest fund raising drag queens with killer heels.

Although it seems pretty likely that Barak Obama will be our nations next president, the fight for equality has just begun. Will a favorable political outcome on November 4 diffuse the pressure for change?

Sarah Palin's newest enemy- the French Fruit FlySarah Palin announces her new political enemy- French fruit flies. The You-Know-What to Nowhere is mad that federal money is spent on studying fruit flies in Paris, France.

What Palin doesn’t understand is that fruit flies are used by researchers to make scientific discoveries that are valuable to just the very causes she says she supports. Without fruit flies we wouldn’t have the advances in genetic research we need to better understand and treat possibly genetic diseases, like Autism.

Is Daniel Cowart, the racist terrorist plotting to kill 88 African Americans including Barak Obama while wearing a white tuxedo and matching top hat a trannie? Maybe not a trannie, but he could be a little bit of a cross dresser. File photos seem to show him wearing eye makeup and pretty bright pink lipstick. While fashionable, they don’t exactly match his black swastika tattoo on his shoulder.

WincestPLUS we perform a dramatic reading of a slash fiction story written by a devoted fan, Tanya, on how Feast of Fools made the two brothers from the Supernatural TV show gay for each other! There is a whole genre of slash fiction revolving around these two brothers.

Technically, this is incest, or as they call it, “Wincest,” but that doesn’t stop the fans from loving it!

Big props to Tanya… but still, slash is not my thing… and having ya’ll read it was hilaricreepy (Just in time for Halloween).

That being said, if Halloween falls through again this year, I just suggest SFSilver just host or go to a small party with some of his close friends. Sometimes that can be nicer than a huge shindig.

  2. matt says:

I think we may get traditionalist Democrats voting Yes on 8, yuck :(

Even though I did not vote for Obama, I still listen. I will make a vote for FOF instead.

National health is a good idea, private health insurance has failed. Republicans and Democrats across the country understand it now, compared to 1993 with Hillary. People are pissed that they pay big money for their health insurance, then when they need a 45,000.00 procedure, the insurance company instantly drops you.

We should study national health systems of Australia and France and Canada and examine what works and what not works.

If McCain did not appoint Palin, McCain would probally would of had a tighter race. I knew Palin was the albatross.

And there is legitimate arguments about the marxism of Obama, his closest advisers and friends follow that credo, they visit Hugo Chavez and company. If he could be a good democratic socialist like Hillary and Tony Blair, we can expect good things from Obama, and me voting for him in 2012.

  3. Marc Felion says:

I don’t think you have to worry about Obama being a Marxist. He’ll only be the President, not a tyrant or a dictator. I don’t care if it’s leftist or rightist government, I just care if it’s good government.

  4. matt says:

Yes, President Bush sent us to the sewers. I became more disgusted with him with his FMA endorsement in 2004. I do not think the Republicans will have a captivating candidate for 2012, Jindal, Palin, Huckabee, Romney they do not make me excited.

At least I finally agree about a health service for all Americans :)

And if you want more French songs to lip sync to, try something from Mylene Farmer like Fuck them all, her hit single from 2005.

  5. Marc Felion says:

Thanks for the recommendation but I think that’s it for Panda/French songs

  6. Capalicous says:

So I don’t know why but in the intro when marc says boo I completely cracked up. I had been driving for a while and something that corny was great. Thanks for another mood lifting show. I vote everyday because I set a reminder in my phone so good luck on peoples choice and glbt categories. You deserve it!!!!

  7. Thanks Capalicous! Cross your fingers, with everyone’s help, I know we can win this!

  8. matt says:

Fausto, I loved the Silence of the Lambs bit… it deserved more of a response from Curtis and Marc.

  9. I put in that just for you Matt!

  10. Rhea says:

Curtis and Nirmalpal look like hot daddy versions of the Wonder Twins. Is it hot in here?

  11. StevenvanL. says:

If anyone votes for McCain, thus giving Sarah Palin a (remote) chance of landing the job of President, they need to have their voting rights taken away and not given back until they have gotten themselves some proper education. McCain and his policies are not even an issue at this point I would think; it’s the looming Shadow of Palin…

  12. Marc Felion says:

Alec Baldwin calls her “Bible Spice”

  13. StevenvanL. says:

Hehe – remind me to thank Alec by way of blow-job should I run into him.

  14. Curtis says:

Thanks Rhea, those were our 2004 costumes at the Trannyshack “Russian River Massacre” Halloween in Guerneville. We were Fire and Ice, and we ran around bar hopping nearly naked in those vinyl stripper hot pants in the 409 degree weather. It was fun.

  15. DKMPLS says:

Sorry guys, I just listened to his show, so my response is a bit late.

I have to 100% disagree with Fausto’s comments that creating images of Obama looking like a monkey or other racist images, or that Hillary Clinton’s image used as a nutcracker are harmless. I was so disappointed by that comment. Racist and sexist imagery helps drive the policies of the Bush Administration of the last 8 years. It helps to justify direct actions like abortion clinic bombings, lynchings, and wars against people of color. Words and pictures matter. And it is just as important to speak out against them as it is to speak out against physical violence.

I’ve been voting for the Feast of Fools in the podcast awards, because I think this show does a lot to create meaningful content while being entertaining. Never do I expect to agree 100%. But I feel like I must tell you that I will abstain from voting at least one day, because I can’t let those comments slide.

I do want to end my comment on a positive note as I enjoy the show so much and I don’t want a vocal criticism of one point to be taken as how I view the entire show. I really enjoyed the performance of a listener’s slash fiction. I thought it was a very creative way to incorporate audience participation and response to the show, which it hard to do with other types of art/performance.

Thanks for allowing the opportunity to respond…

  16. Tanya says:

OMG!!! I just listened to this podcast today because the last days were just too busy…..
I love you guys so much for reading my fic! And they way you did it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    So wonderful :-)

I was wondering since you did such an amazing job of it, if I could download it, cut it and then perhaps post in into the SPN podfic comms on the net? Would credit you guys of course and link back to you. But this is just too good not to share with all Supernatural Slash Fans!
