Come out, come out wherever you are! Latin pop star Ricky Martin announces that he’s gay, ending years of speculation but surprising no one.
The Puerto Rican singer began his career at the age of 13, if you believe it, when he was cast as the first English speaking singer in the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo. Or as we like to call it, Men U Do.
Pictured on the right is an early publicity photo of Ricky Martin with his Menudo co-stars. If I had showed up to school wearing tight bright turquoise pants and bleached hair I would have gotten my ass kicked.
Their first song with English lyrics “Like a Cannonball,” was used as the theme to the film “Cannonball Run Two” and became a hit on the American pop charts.
Today after a lifetime of hot latin pop music and cheesy soap opera appearances, Ricky Martin takes my tiara and replaces me, Fausto Fernós as the world’s most famous openly gay Puerto Rican man.
Congratulations Ricky! It’s never too late to live La Vida Homo.
Will Ricky Martin shove Cyndi Lauper out of the way as he shakes his bon-bon at the next gay charity fundraiser near you?
But hold on, we’re also delighted to pull back the veil of another popular gay pastime, the man who creates the hilarious virtual Cristal Connors on Facebook, writer Jim Nash.
Listen as Jim shares with us his story on how he came up with creating a Facebook account for Cristal Connors, the bisexual villain from the film Showgirls, and what it’s like having actual Broadway celebrities become fans of his alter ego.
Plus- An x-rated Easter basket that we’d all like to get from the Easter Bunny and GLADD demands the lame looking film with the awesome title “Ticked of Trannies with Knives” be yanked from the Tribeca Film festival for misrepresentation of the trans experience.

I have the Showgirls coffee table book!!
I want to see it!
This was such a good episode! I’m a HUGE Cristal Connors fan on facebook. Keep up the posts Darlin’!
I’m happy Ricky came out.
You can have a whole new chapter for Queer Ricans 2!
This was great! It was so fun to finally hear the man behind Cristal Conners. He’s brought hours of joy to my life.
Great show but you got the mashup wrong! C’mon, fellas. You gotta mashup She Bangs and She Bop! She Bop even has a reference to gay porno!
interesting, how does she bop reference gay porn?
The song begins
“We-hell-I see them every night in tight blue jeans -
In the pages of a blue boy magazine”
I think it’s no longer published but in the 1980s when the song came out there was a nude magazine for men called Blueboy.
It’s true.
I’ve experienced all seven stages of loss like a child who finds out about Santa but by the end of the show I was more in love with Jim and Cristal than ever. Seriously those characters (aside from FOF) are the highlight of my day.
Mine too Tricky!
I am glad that ricky is gay… he is very hot
