The future of the Internet belongs to websites that allow interesting folks to do interesting things together, whether it’s for sex, politics, art or just trolling around.
Finding people who compliment your talents rather than people who are just like you is the key to a successful collaboration, but the Internet doesn’t always make that an easy task because it involves making assumptions on who we’re most likely to be compatible with.
Today comedian Heather Gold joins us to take a look at some new sites for collaborating and how the Internet is changing the way we relate to each other.
Recently, Heather hosted a panel at SXSW on how artists and musicians find new ways to make work together that will sustain their careers. She also just got 20 students to come out as LGBT at a collaborative performance she hosted at Gettysburg College. How did she do it? Hypnosis?

A photo posted on Canvas of Marc and me got morphed into the Flash and Batman, and then R2D2 and Bert as C3PO. Oh internet, you so crazy!

Oh, I hate being one of those bisexuals who always whines about erasure, but it kinda bums me out when people paint Ani Difranco’s union with a man as a betrayal of her lesbian fanbase. According to Wikipedia, she identifies as bisexual, and while I don’t presume to speak for her, *IF* she’s anything like me, she didn’t stop fancying girls after she hooked up with a guy. As the Church Lady from SNL once said, a bisexual is “someone who reaches down the front of somebody’s pants and they’re satisfied with whatever they find!”
Also, if Heather wanted to enjoy socialized medicine AND legal prostitution, she should have moved here to New Zealand. We’ve got both.
Very relevant to our convo yesterday & the independent TED events happening this month. Great episode with great timing!
