Realise I haven’t commented on here in forever – sorry! But: Having been restricted from working out (!) by my rheumatologist for the last half year now and being unable to due to illness and pain before that it’s been nearly two years since I have worked out on a regular basis. I would like to get back to normal soon as the outlook is about to improve significantly. How long would it take to get to a fitness level like Scott Herman?

Hehe, for now I can apparently only exercise with rubber bands (!), at least for another month. The condition is called ankylosing spondylitis, and whereas exercise is highly recommended for people with this illness it’s off limits for me now. :p It causes inflammation in the body’s larger joints, like the lower back, knees, chest and in my case also the heel and several toes.

Getting back into fitness feels like an ever approaching dream, but the road is a bit discouraging…

Had trouble logging in to my account, but another great show! Got a raise yesterday so I felt like I could finally donate to my favorite podcast that keeps me company at work and on the road. You do amazing things! Love you Fausto, Marc and all your guests!

    Good show.

I’ve actually been exercising a lot in the last two and a half weeks (more consistently than I have my entire life to be frank) in part because of how often you all talk about fitness and also as part of a general lifestyle change I’ve wanted to make… And I have an impending beach trip in August. It was kind of a perfect storm of outside forces all telling me the same thing: To actually live my life better.

I do more cardio than anything because I don’t really want to bulk up and the workout on Netflix I like the most is predominantly jumping-oriented exercises and lunges/squats. (Kind of funny given those are what both of you advocated today.) It’s amazing how much it’s already helped my back. And I’ve paired it with yoga, so I’m getting more flexibly almost daily.

Anyway, I encourage anyone thinking about wanting to get into shape to think of it more as a way to be happier with yourself. Time flies and life will pass you by, but if you’re doing something as it passes, you’ll get some kind of reward. Not a very profound idea, but it’s been my motivator and I’ve felt better about myself recently than I have in a very long time.

  6. Andy says:

Lets hope he does a video with a muscle Russian guy. I guess his gay fans would appreciate it. :-)
I got the idea partly from the show and partly from my best friend who is Russian. We always make fun about either some certain German dialects or the Russian accent or the French accent. She also taught me the Russian accent well. Further I often see some Russian or Eastern European guys working out when I go to an outdoor pool in a park with other sport facilities during summer. Even more interesting is to watch the Turkish guys, there always many hot Turkish guys with sexy bodies at the pool, they often come in groups or with their “best friend” swimming closely together and show their affection for each other.

Enjoying the show! I listen to it first, my other fav is wanda wisdom. My son says I am gayer than him!
I had to comment on the Harry Potter spoiler, good job captain! I had not seen it yet or read the books.
I did enjoy the tips about fitness! I have to find out what a smith chair is. There were a lot of good tips and advise and motivation in this episode. I go to the gym, but i don’t like it, too nonsocial, I talk to people if they have their ear buds in or not, then i walk away. if i wore ear buds, i would have to sing outloud! yes, i am that annoying girl. hehehehe. I will watch out for good times to talk to others, or ask advise now.
