  1. it is a shame what happened to Nick Aaronson, and while it is unfair to accuse the country of Mexico of being a terrible place, some cities in that country have become very dangerous for tourists to travel to. Me and My family went to a little island off the cost of Cancun last year for the holidays, and it was nice and safe, and none of us got sick lol. You just gotta be careful…

looking forward to the other latin-themed things for the show! Especially that pumpkin flan recipe…I would be tempted to make it myself because I love all things pumpkin-flavored this time of the year…

and sadly I did nothing for Halloween this year as usual, when you have no one to celebrate it with, there’s really no reason to get all dressed up n’ stuff…

  2. This murder was a horrible tragedy. I was in Mexico City when the tragic death of Nick Aaronson occurred. Mexico City is no more a dangerous place than any major city. It is a world class city with many museums and cultural interests. Mexicans are a very humble & friendly people. The fact is that some Americans visit Mexico seeking “sex tourism” (and drugs) thus placing themselves in danger.

Nick Aaronson is being lauded by the gay media as an advocate of gay marriage while paradoxically some U.S. media reports allege that while he was in Mexico City he picked up a notorious prostitute named “the shadow” (thus allegedly engaging in sexual activity outside of his relationship with his boyfriend Kalven). There is video of him bringing the alleged murderer Jose Manuel Ramirez into the hotel lobby, at around 4 am and hotel security guards having Nick sign Ramirez into the guest registry, Here is the security camera footage:

We don’t know all the facts of this case. But we do know that Nick picked up someone at a bar in Mexico CIty while on layover and that he was later found murdered. The fact remains that some people engage in dangerous behavior of picking up strangers / prostitutes as this seems to be the case. Dangerous behavior has dangerous consequences. What we don’t know is if Nick was partial to dangerous sexual acts as well. Let’s not forget that the alleged murderer has not gone to trial yet. He claims he did not murder Nick. Who is to say that this was a rough sex game gone horribly wrong, ? We don’t know.

I too lost a boyfriend many years ago after he engaged in dangerous sexual behavior. The pain, loss and sense of betrayal is overwhelming. If this tragedy was a dangerous pick up of a prostitute as some media reports are claiming, then this tragedy should be shown as an example of the consequences of dangerous and unhealthy behavior.

Furthermore, I’m offended that Nick is being praised by the gay media (including the Noh8 campaign) as someone who supported gay marriage. This is exactly what people against gay marriage want to see us do – praise a person for advocating gay marriage while he allegedly was murdered by a Mexican prostitute he brought to his hotel while away from his Phoenix boyfriend Kalven Smith-Aaronson.

Let’s hear all the facts first before we praise or condemn anyone.
