Today much of the Internet is covered in darkness to protest SOPA and PIPA, two obnoxious pieces of legislation pushed by corporate Hollywood to shut down the Internet in the name of fighting piracy.

But this podcast is available since, you paid for it!

Some other creative names I’ve come across- by way of CVS employees, friends who are teachers in urban communities, or interns at my own job:

    Jhyna (pronounced “Shaina”)
    Oranjello (orange jello)
    Tanzinique
    Kilala
    La-a (pronounced La”dash”a)

    My all time favorite:

    Imacula

  2. Rick says:

    How about this guy’s name!

  3. Andy says:

There is a lot of piracy nowadays but I would not say less people go the cinema. I think certain movies which people really want to see they still often watch at the cinema and others they watch maybe online. Due the fact that movies are online available after some days the movie was published anyway companies should be more creative how to sell their movies.

  4. big protest day for SOPA/PIPA! some sites were pretty good about blacking out, while a bunch of other sites were just kinda lazy about it. Other sites who were on the list of sites that were gonna black out, backed out of it. I can only hope that people actually did something by signing online petitions, contacting their Senators, or anything, I mean, people are pretty lazy, getting them to make phone calls or meet these politicians in-person is asking too much for most people.

PIPA will be voted on in the Senate next week. If it gets passed, well, we’ll be fucked.

nice discussion about George Lucas and the not-so-great legacy he has left behind for his Star Wars saga. You guys brought up a lot of points that were brought up in this video about the same topic done by Red Letter Media.com http://redlettermedia.com/half-in-the-bag/the-people-vs-george-lucas-and-star-wars-discussion/ The same guy who did those epic reviews of the Star Wars sequels, where he completely took them apart and critiqued them, interviewed a film maker who make a documentary called The People vs. George Lucas, which is basically covers the subject you guys talked about. I grew up with these movies as a kid, so I’m on the side of the Star Wars fans who wish that George Lucas would just leave the original Star Wars trilogy alone. Adding in the “noooo” for Darth Vader in my fave scene of Return of the Jedi was pretty offensive. Fausto hit it right on the head with his criticism of Lucas’s editing to that scene.

    great show as always! :)

Looks like the protests had an impact.

  6. Than says:

Ron Paul is a conservative Christian racist who has rebranded himself as a libertarian. Don’t be fooled. He hates gay people. He would never legalize pot. As much of an isolationist as he may be, he would never be able to resist the Congressional Military Industrial Complex.

    • Curtis says:

Thanks Than for your post! I actually think it is irresponsible in the election cycle for any media outlet to engage in these casual intellectually lazy supportive statements about Ron Paul. I’m deeply disturbed by the way so many progressives latch on tot he one or two things about him that are appealing (anti-war, pro drug legalization) and seem willfully blind to all the horrific things this man believes in and advocates for. He could become a viable spoiler as a 3rd party candidate, and disturbingly draw progressives away from supporting the President. This is likely to be a close election and every vote counts. We can’t have a repeat of 2000 when Nader drew enough progressive voters away from Gore that it allowed for the Supreme Court to foist Bush on us (for which we are still paying the price)

The presidential election is too important this year, so I challenge Marc and Fausto to be vigilant this year and not to let comments like that go by.

    • Curtis says:

a correction. Marc Meron’s podcast; WTF, is not produced by NPR. He independently produces it in his garage – just like you guys. He used to be an employee of Air America, but that was before he started his podcast.
