Only 10 mins. in and I’m in love with this episode. Great concept for a show, and I’m loving the adventure.
I have someone who lives down the hall that’s 18 and started the my little pony social club that gathers once a week to watch the show online. And Marc, he’s straight. He also used to produce a pokemon podcast, so he’s very radio friendly.
You want his input on Bronies?
yaaaay! Thank you for the shout-out! Greatly appreciated!!
And actually, I’m actually half-brown (middle-eastern), half-japanese, lol.
Also drafts for the 3rd drawing have been sent!
You’re right about the unusual weddings (at least from my perspective), I’ve heard instances where a Japanese woman during the 90′s married a manequin and a few years later a man managed to legally marry a fictional character if my data is correct…
In France you can marry a dead person but it’s in title only, you don’t get to inherit anything from them. I think it was mainly devised as a way to deal with all the war deaths.
I heard about Bronies on NPR’s “Wait, wait, don’t tell me”. It was the answer to a “Bluff the Listner” segment and the next week they asked President Clinton 3 questions about My Little Pony during “Not My Job”.
Thanks for your kind words and encouragement for my friend!
I love your show so much because it always reminds no matter what happens in life, a good way dealing with it is actually with humor.
If you travel to Europe come to Berlin.
You really can find there all kind of guys from all over Europe. I had again a fantastic time there after Christmas till beginning of January. This year also the new airport will open with better international connections.
One last thing, you mentioned that Mitt Romney is paying only 15% taxes which was also in the German press. I think that is a perfect example what is wrong with our tax system. His only income is the interest on his capital and therefore he only pays 15% taxes. Someone with the same income from work would pay much higher taxes. As long as capital income is not taxed as high as working income the income inequality will continue to rise.
Love the new t-shirt! Will definitely be ordering one soon. Great podcast guys.

Late to comment, I know, but my husband and I are both earnest grown-up fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I was a fan and owner of many ponies and watched the original series as a little girl, but Aaron is new to the franchise, and appreciates it as a fan of cartoons in general. The new series is way better than the original, comparable to Cartoon Network shows like Powerpuff Girls (not surprising, since creator Lauren Faust worked on that series with her husband, Craig McCracken), with lots of flash-bang animation supported by positive characters and subtle sly-winking humor.
Aaron actually dislikes the term “brony” and disavows it because it has an inherent othering quality, like the term’s very existence makes it out as somehow weird to be a fan of cartoon animals of any kind, which Aaron (and myself) has always been, and many people (children and grownups alike) have been since the early days of Disney and Warner Bros. I think he has a point, since I think the concept of cartoons as being “just for kids” is a recent cultural invention, and furthermore cartoons about friendship and ponies being inherently girly (as opposed to ones about robots and soldiers), is pointless at best, damaging and reinforcing of negative gender tropes at worst.
All that being said, what kind of “cutie mark” should I draw on Aaron’s bum while he’s asleep?
