WhitneyHouston-THUMB-FEB201

Sad and shocking. Whitney Houston, in town for the Grammys, was found dead Saturday in the bathtub of her room at the Beverly Hills Hotel. She was 48 years old.

Today we take a look at the bittersweet memories and give good love to one of pop music’s greatest singers, everywoman Whitney Houston.

  1. Rick says:

Waking up on Sunday morning and hearing this news was devastating. I live near Newark where the funeral will be held and I may attend if at all possible. First Etta James and now Whitney Houston. A very sad day in the music world.

  2. Whitney Houston dancing with a half-man, half-woman in 1985.

  3. Than says:

I think it is great that we can all come together to support and encourage people after they have died.

  4. GarpinBC says:

With all due respects to Whitney Houston, it just isn’t a celebrity death without a Feast of Fun Podcast.

I wasn’t Whitney’s biggest fan—I was a waiter at the height of “I Will Always Love You”—but I think her death made a lot of gay guys in their Forties examine their bucket list.

A friend and I have been debating whether or not to buy tickets to Madonna. He thinks they’re too expensive; I feel if we’re going to see her, we better do it now.

After she died, I texted the word “Whitney…” to my friend and he called me back right away. “Now so you want to see Madonna?” I asked instead of saying hello. He said, “Get the damn tickets.”

  5. I never listened to Whitney Houston, but I was always aware of her career and such, and of course all the times she was talked about on past FOF shows. It is tragic that she died so young, she touched so many with her music and was a huge inspiration to other artists.

I actually watched the Grammys this year, I think Jennifer Hudson’s rendition of I Will Always Love You was very nice.

I don’t listen to Adele either, but I think she deserved all the rewards she got. I admire her for not jumping on the band wagon of pop stars having to make themselves look all outlandish and crazy to get more fame and attention, not that there is anything wrong with that I guess. I also admire her for not caving to the pressures of society by being super thin, so many other women become borderline anorexic to be accepted, but Adele doesn’t have to do that to be successful, all she needs his her voice.

too bad for Lady Gaga though! Grammy night was not her night. She was just kinda there….

  6. I can’t help but wonder if Gaga’s outfit was in a way mourning for Whitney Houston? Wearing black and a black veil thingie is typical mourning attire right? Neil Patrick Harris was looking pretty fine that night btw.

  7. Neil was there with his smokin’ hot husband too rawr~

  8. since Kathy Griffin was mentioned on the show, figured I’d post this too. With a giant mouse, otherwise known as deadmau5. If you guys watched the Grammys in it’s entirety he did that short performance with the Foo Fighters towards the end of the show, and was nominated for a few awards, but they were awards that were separate from the main Grammys broadcast.

    Here it goes:

If Whitney return from the dead that’s how her performance will look like:

The quality of the video is not the best, but that’s the best performance. There are some other videos with better quality but the performance is not the same:
