Logo was never a well run network, they tried to cast their net far too wide and tried to be too “wholesome.” For God’s sake they blurred body parts that appeared unaltered on broadcast TV! They should have approached it from an HBO standpoint. Be edgier, and invest in GOOD programming. The most interesting content they have is on late at night, but even then they are so censored it’s insulting.

And FUCK this “we’re all part of society now.” Yes we are, but most straights in the US have no idea what it really means to be a gay. I like gay ghettos, clubs, good gay programming, plays and podcasts. It’s not all I consume, but please, I want my GAY TV sometimes! Something that in my opinion, has never really existed.

I was very interested in LOGO when it was launched on my cable system – Cablevision. I thought the idea of a cable channel just for the gay community was a great idea. However, the more I watched the less interested I became. Now i don’t watch the channel at all. Here are a few of my thoughts on LOGO:
    1. Most cable companies bury the channel with a high channel number and put it in one of the upper tier basic cable packages. many cable customers are turning off these upper level tiers to save money.
    2. The commercials are the most annoying that I have ever seen. This alone is a deal breaker.
    3. There is no HD version of the channel. The SD version that my cable company gives looks horrible.
    3. Noah’s Arc is the only reason that LOGO is still alive. It is an excellent spin off of Queer As Folk. All episodes are available on Netflix streaming. There is also a Noah’s Arc movie that is on Netflix as well.
    4. The movies on LOGO are sanitized to a PG rating and makes the movies a totally different product. Netflix has over 100 gay themed movies and all are complete.
    5. As you guys discussed LOGO is changing it’s format to more mainstream. In other words they are following AMC and Bravo in order to survive. Not sure why anyone will be watching when the change takes place but good luck to them.
    6. Another big disappointment is the Here TV channel. This one is a pay channel and shows very few movies each month and many of them are repeated over and over. This channel also has no HD version. I am surprised that Here TV is still around. I see very little advertising for it and there is no more original product like Dante’s Cove.

Great podcast guys. On the subject of Whitney Houston, the cemetery where she is buried is the same one where my mother is buried. I read that the cemetery is closed until further notice to the general public. If i want to visit my mother I have to bring proof of ownership of the grave.

Although there is more gay themed content in our media nowadays there will be always a demand for podcasts, websites, TV shows, magazines etc. which are mainly GLBT centric. Straight guys will be never as interested in certain topics like fashion, divas in the music business, drag etc. as gay guys and gay guys will be never as interested as straight guys in certain topics like football or soccer.

Personally I find it also funnier and more interesting to go out to bars, parties etc. to meet guys than using dating websites or apps as I love to talk, flirt and get to someone first before having some fun.

At last one must not forget that in most parts of the world GLBT topics are not part of the mainstream media like in the US, EU or Australia, NZ. And even in those countries I find GLBT centric media is necessary as many GLBT topics are not covered in the mainstream media.

For FOF I wish more people from different parts of the world would blog here. It would be interesting for example to read more stories and different perspectives from Asia, Latin America or Africa.
