Vice President Biden caused a commotion over the weekend by speaking out in support of marriage equality. Is this just a goof or is Obama ready to “evolve” into supporting full equality for everyone?

Comedian Kristin Clifford, who loves manatees, mystery novels and hanging out at weight watchers joins to talk about John Travolta’s masseur and Joe Biden’s opinion on marriage equality.

  1. I think Biden saying he was comfortable with gay marriage and then having Obama’s spokesperson have to step and clarify everything shows Obama’s overall stance on gay issues during his term.

For the most part he’s just kind of tip-toed around the big issues, saying he’s in support of this, or doesn’t support that, but then he never acts on it, okay, getting rid of DADT was a big deal, but earlier Obama had the chance to sign an executive order banning discrimination in the workplace, and didn’t, and decided to let Congress handle it. With Congress actively trying to write away women’s rights-right now, I doubt they will let any legislation supporting LGBT rights pass through.

According to this article: “That stance departs from the White House’s prominent “we can’t wait” campaign: Since last fall, Mr. Obama has signed executive orders on a variety of issues, arguing that “we can’t wait” for legislation that Republicans in Congress refuse to let pass.” but apparently giving LGBT people rights does not warrant a executive order.

so yeah, I’m pretty pessimistic I guess. Even if Obama does get re-elected, and decides to push forward in support of gay marriage, that will never become a reality with the Congress we have now.

THAT ASIDE, another great show! Kristin was a lot of fun!

I just graduated from college in December and my school did not offer a separate LGBT ceremony. This isn’t terribly surprising since I went to a smaller division II school. However, I think that have a separate ceremony would be really great, if nothing for the fact that it would have been a lot faster than the regular ceremony!
