Gaydar-Faces-THUMB-MAY2012

How accurate is someone’s gaydar? A new study from the University of Washington shows that people can guess about 60% of the time if a person is gay.

Listen as we take a look at the new gaydar study, ways to boost your testosterone naturally with supplements and diet, NAACP saying yes we can to Marriage Equality and the Lady Gaga Simpsons episode.

  1. Another thing I have noticed about people and their sexual identifications is that many people do not feel comfortable with identifying as gay/lesbian/bisexual and identify as something else, the most common one I see is pansexual, after that, prolly asexual. I have seen a diagram listing about half a dozen other identifications that I have never even heard of before. I think some people see labeling themselves as gay/lesbian/bisexual as some sort of social stigma, while others feel the most comfortable labeling themselves as something else with no shame. Some people find it easiest to just label themselves as “queer” but of course some people do not approve of that term since it is still used as a derogatory term against LGBT-etc people.

but of course there are many people who don’t want to bother with labels…

and I think it is good that the NAACP came out in support of marriage equality. When the news of North Carolina banning same sex marriage and Obama coming out in support of same sex marriage was in the news, on the local radio station, a African American pastor who had been in support of Obama in the past, expressed his displeasure with Obama’s stance on same sex marriage. He strongly pushed for the banning of same sex marriage in North Carolina, and basically said that African American voters should put their religious faith first instead of their pride, basically saying that they should no longer support Obama. Pretty pathetic, but I wonder what the pastor would think now that the NAACP same out in support of same-sex marriage.

re: supplements. save your $$. The link you provided was written by a freelance writer that specializes in travel writer (not that there is anything wrong with that). Yet she wrote “Another option for increasing testosterone in the body can be found by increasing the key vitamins C, A, E and B6.” (have you heard, vaccines cause autism, i read it on the internet). ;-)

you did mention that we should research and make our own decision (great advice), so this goes to you guys since you have spoken quite a bit about the supplements your taking: save your money! :-)

If you are lucky enough to have a health plan with Kaiser, Mayo, Cleveland or Group Health Cooperative you have a doctor that is paid a salary, not by the procedure (even surgeons). These doctors have an incentive to keep you healthy, period. They will tell you to save your $$. spend the money on organic veggies and fresh fruit.

That link is one of many I could have used so maybe that’s a poor choice- try searching “Boost testosterone naturally”

I try to eat a well balanced diet but I’m a firm believer in supplements. Some doctors will tell you take vitamins.

Same her, I am also a firm believer in supplements.
There are some studies which say supplements, particular Vitamin C has a negative effect on the body but those studies are usually sponsored by big pharmaceutical companies.

i was referring more to non vitamin supplements. one question about vitamins…if my urine is affected that tells me my body is washing them out. What’s the benefit of taking 500 mg of something when the body only needs 50 and can only absorb 75?

i fully recognize that its easy for me to say eat more fruit and veggies, i live in SF where food is a religion and you are never far from a farmers market, year round! More expensive, definitely, but worth every bite. i never complained about how much i paid for my protein powder (60-80 bucks a pop? i can’t recall but it was a lot).

      • Andy says:

Of course it only makes sense to take a certain dosis. One can also improve the absorption, for example instead of Zinc pills one take Zinc pills with the amino acid Histidine.

I like to eat healthy but organic food is not always much better than “normal” food. Farmers also use herbicides and pesticides for organic food but less, just enough to claim it is organic according to the law.
