Helen Mirren confesses to her love of cocaine in the 80s. It turns out the Oscar winning actress liked to snort a few rails until she found out that the men who sold cocaine were Nazi drug barons.

The 63-year-old, who won an Academy Award for her role in “The Queen,” was quoted by GQ magazine as saying she used to dabble in marijuana and cocaine when she was younger.

“I loved coke. I never did a lot, just a little bit at parties, but what ended it for me was when they caught (Nazi war criminal) Klaus Barbie, the Butcher of Lyon, in the early 80s. He was hiding in South America and living off the proceeds of being a cocaine baron.”

Amanda is finally taking our advice and will go for a jump in the lake. On September 20, 2008 she will join people from all around the world to clean up our waters during International Cleanup Day. The Project Aware Foundation spearheads global underwater cleanups and addresses the devastating impact of marine debris on the aquatic environment. We can’t wait to find out what Amanda will find at the bottom of Lake Michigan.

Can we now blame our bad behavior on our genes? Scientists have discovered that men who have certain alleles, or members of a pair or series of different forms of a gene, are less likely to be in happy or monogamous relationship. About 40% of men have one or two of the alleles which puts them at risk for marital discord or divorce. And if you have two of the alleles you are at a greater risk than if you have just one. If you have none of these alleles, then you’re probably already in a relationship. Why is that all the good alleles are already taken?

What the heck is up with Sarah Palin? We are still confused why McCain chose this unlikely running mate. Some people are saying that her daughter being pregnant should be off limits in this campaign. Now, we would agree with them if it weren’t for the fact that she parades her kids around as some testament to why she is a good leader and person. She opened the door to the argument. If she can’t teach her own kids her style of morality then how is she going to be any kind of moral leader to the nation?

No country in the world uses gold as a way of determining the value of money anymore. So how does paper money get it’s value in today’s society? iPods.

But, more specifically, it’s the goods and services that the country’s economy provides that gives value to their currency.

Because we just LOVE to ponder what will be happening tomorrow on the Feast of Fools, we were wondering what will happen to our money in the future when everything is even more hi-tech and when so many of us may hopefully live in outer space.

The British National Space Centre thought about how space tourists are going to have to find a way to spend money in outer space. After all, the magnetic stripes on credit cards might get erased by solar radiation, coins may cause damage, and it would be impossible to deduct your paypal money without the internet in outer space.

What they came up is the QUID, or “Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination” which are clear teflon pebbles that you can presumably spend at any stellar tourist destination someday.

Why they don’t call the new currency “Space Money” is beyond me but I wouldn’t mind getting a blue pebble for a birthday present (hint hint April 16th). Amanda, a fan of science fiction insists that all money will simply be described as credits.

We’re still trying to figure out why Amanda Steinstein loves to donate blood so gosh darn much. She says it’s for a good cause, but deep down inside, Marc and I think she enjoys the process of EXSANGUINATION, or giving blood. In fact we think she has a bleeding fetish. And why not?

Despite the American Red Cross’ begging and pleading the USDA to lift the ban on gay’s donating blood, thanks to the current President G.W. Bush, blood supplies run low even though the science out there proves gay blood is no more risky than anyone else’s blood.

Chinese singing wolves are going to be new act at a zoo in China. A zoo attendant was singing a song while strumming the guitar and a wolf came over and started howling along to the tune. Now, the staff want to train the pack of wolves to sing and maybe even dance.

Obama’s Youtube gay accuser, Larry Sinclair got arrested on outstanding warrants. A group of bloggers investigated the story behind the man who claims to have smoked crack cocaine with Obama and then engaged in oral sex with him and discovered he was wanted by the law. They arranged with the police to have him arrested after he gave a press conference to the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Is our collective fascination over animals a genuine interest in them, or part of a larger desire to see our own human qualities in the world around us?

Disney built his entertainment company on this desire to see human qualities in mice, dogs and ducks. But equally we’re just as attracted to singing teapots, desk lamps or even a candelabra.

Cuteness is irresistible. Shows like ours depend on stories of animals doing extraordinary things, acting like people or even learning to speak their own names.

But there is a another edgier, wilder category of animal based culture, and that is online viral phenomena.
Like Disney cartoons, these videos, moving graphics or pictures pull us in with animals doing human activitiy, but unlike Disney, they also tap into our darker psyche. Like a tune that gets into your head, these online nuggets haunt your dreams until you spread them to someone else.

Who can forget The Hamster Dance, Tyson the Skateboarding dog, Badger Badger Badger, the dramatic hamster, Crazy Frog (a.k.a. Annoying Thing) or the whole LOLcat phenomenon?

Their repetitive, insane quality both unnerve and entertain us in exciting new ways. It gives you that feeling that the internet is like no other medium that’s come before it. And you, your boss and your mom can both enjoy and talk about it.

We owe a great deal to these artistic creations, some of them anonymous, who helped extend the functionality of the internet from just a information sharing network into a fully fledged entertainment medium.

Several people tried to change their answers after what they considered to be their first draft but I thought it only fair to take into account their first response.

And here are the answers:

1- Feast of Fools Began on April 1, 1998.
FALSE: Cliff got this one wrong. The first Feast of Fools Cabaret took place at the Randolph Street Gallery on March 18, 1998. We say April first is the anniversary because it so much more glamorous than March 18th. Almost everybody got this one wrong so it really leveled the playing field. And April Fools!

2- The stage production featured Fausto in drag with a talking Crystal Skull puppet as a sidekick. Marc got involved initially as being in charge of the bake sale that raised money to pay for advertising the shows.
TRUE: Marc baked chocolate chip cookies and Rice Crispy Treats.

3- Gay Fun Show is a rough translation of Feast of Fools into Vietnamese, coined by a Vietnamese restaurateur.
TRUE: We asked Bruce, a Vietnamese restaurateur how he would describe our show to Vietnamese people and after some thought he said “Gay Fun Show.” We smiled and knew it was a hit.

4- Our first guest on the podcast was drag queen Delilah Bouvier.
FALSE: Our first guest was Taylor E. Ross. He was the musical director of the live shows. He still shows up on the show from time to time and his boyfriend recently gave us wonderful organic beef that he raised himself.

5- Fausto Fernós was a cable access TV star in the early nineties in drag as a blond thick-accented, fire-eating drag queen named “Faustina.”
TRUE: “El Chow de Faustina” originally aired on Cable Access in Austin, Texas 1994. Here’s a video of an early show with performance artist Linda Montano as Lenny an opera singer. This is not for the faint of heart or those that gag easily.It is in fact quite gross. It’s work safe though.

6- Fausto blue hair is no longer blue.
TRUE: Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water. Almost everyone got this wrong. With a new site Fausto felt it was time for a new look. I love it!

7- Marc quit smoking two years ago and hasn’t picked up a cigarette since.
TRUE: We can’t believe its been two years and if Marc can quit smoking, anybody can quit. Just breath and break that cycle of addiction.

8- Marc hitch-hiked across the Yucatan Peninsula at the age of 17. He has traveled to every continent on the globe except Antarctica and Australia.
TRUE: Cliff didn’t believe it but Marc hitchhiked from Cancun to Progresso, Yucatan. He was young and stupid and is just glad to still be alive.

9- Marc has an MBA in Marketing from Loyola University Chicago.
TRUE: Would you like fries with that?

10- Fausto’s Father believed that he was going to live in outer space after his death.
TRUE: And he would study at the University of the Cosmos!

11- Fausto and Marc met while waiting in line at a taping of the Oprah Winfrey Show.
FALSE: They met at the Chicago Eagle, a neighborhood leather bar.

12- Fausto and Marc were arrested for indecent exposure for mooning Sal-E from their car when he worked the door at the Boom Boom Room.
FALSE: Marc and Fausto haven’t mooned anybody since high school.

13- Marc and his entire family of eight children are actually adopted. He was born in Asia and is part Samoan.
FALSE: Marc is the youngest of eight children but as far as he knows, he is neither adopted or Samoan.

TRUE: Yes, two years in a row we have won the best GLBT Podcast Award.

15- Marc is uncircumcised, but Fausto is not.
FALSE: All or one part of this statement is false. You’ll have to take our word for it or find us in the showers at the gym.

16- Out of all the regulars on the Feast of Fools, the only one to make the transition from the stage show who’ve appeared in the last month on the podcast is Amanda Steinstein.
FALSE: Both the winners got this one wrong but Sal-E was in the last live show at Schubas. Dressed as a Chinese concubine he simulated fellatio on All the Way Ray.

17- Fausto Fernós real name is Pretlow Riddick. He chose Fausto Fernós as a androgynous drag name in college after taking a European Literature class where Goethe’s Faust was read. Fernós means to work with Fire.
FALSE: Fausto was named Fausto by his mother. She knew that Faustina would make a lovely drag name for her son so she gave him the male version of that name.

18- Lea Delaria once said on the Feast of Fools:
“I want to do a thing called Tard-Fest 2005. Its a weekend festival of movies where they have non-retarded people playing retarded people.
TRUE: She said it and now their doing it. It’s called Sundance.

19- John Waters, George Takei, Kathy Griffin, Bruce Vilanch, Paula Poundstone, Christian Siriano, Holly Woodlawn and Clay Aiken have all been interviewed on the Feast of Fools podcast.
FALSE: Clay Aiken never appeared on the show, that was just Victoria Lamarr imitating him. “Quarter Turns” indeed.

Last year for the April Fools’ Day show Amanda thought that it would be great idea and trick people into believing she left the show for some radio gig somewhere. Some people fell for it, others did not. Those that believed it cried even despite our bad acting, Marc and Fausto’s lack of caring and the fact that the show was posted two minutes before midnight on the first of April.

Here are some precious comments made by the lovely listeners concerning their affection for Amanda:

Amanda did not want to participate in this year’s April Fools Show because she felt so bad about last year’s show that she didn’t have the heart to fool anyone again. So what did we do? We conned her into it. We told Amanda that the April first show was a retrospective and that the show she is on is going to air on the second of April. Amanda talks on this show about how she didn’t want to be on the April Fools’ Day show this year and gets about three quarters of the way into the show before we spill the beans. She freaks. We laugh. It’s all good fun!

We just found out from the History channel that the thing that surrounds God while he gives the spark of life to Adam in Michaelangelo’s fresco is shaped like the human brain. And did you ever hear about the Flying Spaghetti Monster who’s likeness is also shaped like a brain?

It seems as though Amanda is hooked on this new noodley religion. She’s contributing not money, but brains. She came up with a new term for people that don’t like the religion. Because we just LOVE to ponder what will be happening tomorrow on the Feast of Fools, we were wondering what will happen to our money in the future when everything is even more hi-tech and when so many of us may hopefully live in outer space.

The British National Space Centre thought about how space tourists are going to have to find a way to spend money in outer space. After all, the magnetic stripes on credit cards might get erased by solar radiation, coins may cause damage, and it would be impossible to deduct your paypal money without the internet in outer space.

What they came up is the QUID, or “Quasi Universal Intergalactic Denomination” which are clear teflon pebbles that you can presumably spend at any stellar tourist destination someday.

Why they don’t call the new currency “Space Money” is beyond me but I wouldn’t mind getting a blue pebble for a birthday present (hint hint April 16th). Amanda, a fan of science fiction insists that all money will simply be described as credits.

A Russian six-foot tall egg-shaped robot, hailed by the Russian police force as a bold new crime fighting tool broke down on it’s first day on the job, not because it couldn’t fail to comprehend the human notion of love, but because the rain made its circuits fry.

I think it actually would be adorable to be arrested by a short little egg shaped robotic police officer. Robots are SO gay. Think about it.

Twiki from Buck Rogers? Gay. HAL-9000? Persnickety. Star Wars’ C3PO? Flaming! Even real-life robot ASIMO swishes around like a flaming queen. I think I’ve even seen the Mars Sojourner Red Rover and the Unimate robotic arm getting it on.

Do you have $40 sitting around doing nothing? Well besides investing in your favorite podcast, you can invest it in real estate. Just don’t plan on being around to enjoy it. On today’s show Amanda Steinstein joins Marc Felion and me Fausto Fernós to talk about investment real estate, but the really wacky kind.

One firm Lo’ihi Development will sell you a lot of Hawaiian real estate for $40, the catch is that you wont be able to step foot on it for probably three or four millennia, since it’s located 3,000 feet below sea level on a underwater volcano.

Another developer named Dennis Hope has made over NINE MILLION DOLLARS selling acres of land on the moon (as in the one that orbits the earth) for $20. How cute! A piece of paper for $20. He’s sold his lunar land plots to celebrities like Barbara Walters, George Lucas, the deceased Ronald Reagan and even the first President Bush. I don’t know why people think most celebrities mismanage their money.

I have Oscar Fever! Literally, because I drank too much cheap champagne last night. Owww.

Despite torrential downpours, the writers strike and the threat of the Westboro Baptist Church picketing, the “Superbowl for Gays,” the 80th Annual Academy Awards Ceremonies, also known as the Oscars managed to put on a relatively tight but lackluster show.

Many Oscar statuettes are going overseas this year as the majority of the big awards (Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress) went to non-American talent. Are we seeing a trend here? Is Hollywood becoming more international? I certainly hope so. I want within my lifetime to see a Bollywood musical win “Best Picture.” Is that too much to ask?

On today’s show Amanda Steinstein celebrates her 40th birthday with Tracy Tyler, Marc Felion and me Fausto Fernós. Happy Birthday Amanda!

Listen as we talk with the gals about which celebrities looked hot on the red carpet and which one looked like Clay Aiken wearing a trash-bag. Somebody better tell Tilda to wear makeup next year! But, actresses who play quirky roles might intentionally dress for the “worst dressed” list for the free publicity and to position themselves as edgy talent. After all, who can forget Bjork’s insane swan dress? Of course she never worked in Hollywood again, but she did get a lot of media attention from that swan dress.

Who was gay on the red carpet? Ryan Seacrest was! Did you guys see Ryan asking Patrick Dempsey what would he say if he woke next to Brad Pitt? Two major media hetero-identified celebrities talking about how sexy Brad Pitt was seemed pretty incredible, don’t you think?

And speaking of carpets, was anyone fooled by John Travolta’s peach fuzz toupee? I think that thing was spray painted on. Honestly, he should have put on the fat suit from Hairspray and showed up in drag and he would have looked better. John, it is time to think about growing old gracefully.

Montage, montage montage! What happens when Hollywood writers go on strike? They make montages of course. This year was littered with weird montages, as a tribute to “bees in films” (no joke) “binoculars and telescopes” and “nightmare sequences.” I thought for a moment they were going to make a montage of montage sequences, like the shopping scene in Xanadu where Gene Kelley tries on different outfits to look “hip and cool.” Thank God the writers strike is over, Bruce Vilanch, get to work on next year’s show!

It’s hard to believe that we are into our fourth year of podcasting! With so many shows under our belt we decided to assemble a clip show to commemorate the good times. Welcome to the 702 Club!

We don’t do a lot of clip shows because honestly, the editing process is difficult and time consuming. As much fun as these clip shows are and as nice as it is to look back, we always aim to stay focused on the future, because that is where the possible lies.

In the coming weeks we have a lot of great new shows and guests lined up for you to enjoy. So please stick with us as we move on.

I know a lot of people will write and say “I miss this person” when they hear them on a clip. Please be assured we miss these people too. We had great times and good friendships with them. They contributed so much to all of us. They helped us live, love, laugh and grow.

It hurts when we come up with a great comedy bit and think “perfect for so an so” and there not there to deliver it, but it’s the old show business cliche that “The show must go on” and indeed, on we do go. It’s always a new day at the Feast of Fools and we will always seek out the brightest and best for you and for us.

The most important thing you can do to show guests you care is to get a profile! The bigger the community, the more they’ll be encouraged to keep on doing what they are doing.
