Not as good as “I Want to Go to Sidetracks” but still some funny observations about the differences between Boystown and Andersonville/Edgewater.

There’s something very creepy about two cats in a mirror pose.

Andersonville resident and out activist Pat Bushman recalls her first big encounter with Boystown’s phallic street statues more than ten years ago. “I was pushing my cat Xena in her stroller up North Halsted when I bumped into one of those ugly rainbow-colored penis things,” says Bushman of the pylons the city constructed in ’98 to officially designate North Halsted as gay-identified ’hood Boystown. “Suddenly, I had an idea.”

I can’t really say I’ll miss the place, but I will miss telling my friends that Stargaze was the “lesbian prison bar” and that “when you got out of women’s prison, they give you a token for a free drink at Stargaze.” You’d really be surprised how many people really believed it.

So why the title “The Douching of Andersonville?” Well, because the lady parts of Andersonville are getting washed out. Vulgar, I know, but I’m also worried that some douche bag bar will open up there.

Last weekend we had an awesome time hanging out at Andersonville’s Midsommarfest Street Festival, where you are sure to find hundreds of hunky guys, lots of fried food and 80s music tribute bands. Ain’t nothing but a good time and it doesn’t get much better than this!

Welcome to Lena, population fabulous.

Lena’s a Russian-born rock musician who lives in our neighborhood of Andersonville and runs her own clothing line “Thank You For Your Sex” which sells military inspired designs emblazoned with the words “Thank You For Your Sex.” Of course.

On today’s show Lena comes over to talk about her catchy song “Goodbye” which she wrote after a terrible date where the guy wouldn’t buy her dinner after she had sex with him. The nerve.

Marc loves her European quirkiness, she’s like the Russian Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and Annie Lenox rolled into a delicious bisexual rock-star. She also manages to work references to Myspace messages into her song lyrics. What’s not to love?

Lena is offering $5,000 cash prize for the BEST video to her song “Goodbye.” So far she’s had quite a few contestants and some of them are pretty good. You have until July 18, 2008 to enter.

We are wondering if the internet is the new public stockade. Two boys were convicted of throwing a soft drink through a fast food drive through window as a prank were forced to apologize on youtube for their actions. The boys had stupidly posted the prank on the internet and the judge thought that it would only be fitting to make the punishment match the crime. We can see this becoming a new trend: if you do a crime and post it on the internet and get caught, you’ll have to apologize on the internet as well.

Listen as we talk with Lena about the month she spent in jail in Wisconsin, why men should pay for dinner if the girl gives the sex and her friend’s band, ANJ Kill’s video that features a supersized Gorbachev fighting off Stalinist zombies.
