Of all the live podcast forums we’ve done with Lifelube, one of the best received was Tunnel of Love, where people probed deeply and asked anything they wanted from sex experts and doctors about their booty.

But as gay men, our sex lives are about a whole lot more than just butt love. A new gay sex study conducted by researchers at Indiana University and George Mason University had some interesting findings- most notably that butt sex isn’t as common as you think, that only 37.2% of participants claimed to have had anal intercourse as their last sexual activity.

What’s the most common sexual activity? Kissing: 74.5%. The second-most popular?: oral sex (72.7%), followed by partnered masturbation (68.4%).

Another interesting result of the study was that nearly 40% of guys said their behavior occurred with someone they were in a committed relationship with or at least dating.

As many colors are in the rainbow, our sex lives and desires are just as diverse and complicated in some very exiting ways.

Today we’re going to get our freak on and try to answer as many questions you have here and at home about sex.

Let’s talk about sex baby with
• Gary Bucher – an anal health specialist and Director of Anal Dysplasia Clinic Midwest.
• Debby Herbenick – sex researcher and sex columnist for Time OUT Chicago.
• John Stryker – a nurse practitioner at Howard Brown Health Center.

While I’m not one to get too involved in Boystown politics, it occured to me that viewpoints like these are the reason why.

In the post, the author argues that the closing of this beloved pizzeria is the fault of the owner for basically not being more discriminatory with his clientele. Not to mention the evil hand that is the Center on Halsted, for bringing youth advocacy to Boystown and thus also bringing “thugs.”

While I’m not going to go into the painful, almost unreadable, length that they went to in blogging about this, I do want to step up in defense of the people who they are not granting a voice. Since, FYI, they appear to be that kind of blog that blocks comments of dissenting voices.

This may be more serious than is usually presented in the Fresh site, but I desperately want to engage this author in an actual discussion, since he blocks comments of those who disagree.

To read the rest of my response in full, go on over to my blog

When talking about sex and gay men, the fear of danger, diseases and risk usually become the focus. Why does it have to be this way? Why not talk about the fantastic sex we do have? What about our friendships, our creativity and our communities?

After all, being gay is not just good, it’s fabulous!

To many people, gay sex automatically means penetration even though not all men are into the booty. What other things do we like to do? What turns us on and brings us pleasure?

Join us live from the Center on Halsted with a panel of experts psychologist Dr. Gary Harper, activist Keith Green and sex educator Samuel R. Galloway. Listen as we explore desire and ways we can be intimate, sensual and loving with each other.

Much like society in general, the gay community is stratified along age lines. Gay men are living longer than ever and some older folks feel disconnected to the younger generations that have not had the same experiences they’ve had.

On the other hand, young people seem to be forging their way forward in this world without the benefit of mentorship from older gay people. Is this a sign of progress in gay rights or are younger people blind to older people’s experiences? How do we find the common ground for conversation and camaraderie among people of different ages?

The butt is the final frontier, not just for food leaving the body, but it’s also a psychological, sexual place wherein lies desire and identity.

In many ways, to ask people to accept gay men, is to ask them to understand and embrace anal sex. Yes, that is not ALL we do in the bedroom, but it’s one of the important things in our sexual lives.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/feastoffools/3045733446/" title="Our Panel of experts: activist Jim Pickett, Dr. Will Wong and porn star D.C.
Have we always been so shy about our behinds? In the late 1800s French professional farter and entertainer Joseph Pujol, known as Le Pétomane, was a staple at the Moulin Rouge nightclub where he would play musical instruments with his butt, blow out candles from several feet away. He wasn’t farting though, he would suck air in through his butt and then forcibly expel it. He could also suck water out of a bowl with his backside. Now, that’s a power bottom.

Today we’re shining some light into the place where the sun doesn’t shine. What are some common misconceptions about anal sex? How do porn stars do all that sex in movies? Besides using condoms, what are some new ways you can protect yourself from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases?

But for some gay men who suffer Diva Dissociative Trauma or DDT life isn’t always a beautiful aria. They avoid healthy relationships with their own peers and instead lose themselves in the works of powerful female celebrities.

Jason brings some insights into many of the mental health issues gay men face and some simple steps you can take to find help.

We also talk about a broad range of mental health issues and the brutal killing of 14 year old high school student Lawrence King. We discuss how to talk to young people about the brutal murder?

How do you get off and have a good time on the internet superhighway without a fender bender?

On today’s show we have the recording of the live forum that Marc Felion and I, Fausto Fernós, moderated at the Center on Halsted last month. The forum was developed and sponsored by our friends at Lifelube to figure out how to have fun and be safe while looking for sex or love online. This forum featured three great experts on how the internet is changing our sexuality.

First, Stephan Adelson, former general manager of Manhunt, a hook up site for men seeking sex with men. He was part of the team that introduced the idea of displaying one’s HIV status in online personal profiles.

Stephan currently works as the Executive Director of the nonprofit Internet Intervention Incorporated. He also works as an internet consultant on privacy issues and recently developed National Guidelines for Internet Interventions (PDF).

Second, Beau Gratzer, director of HIV and STD prevention at Howard Brown Health Center. Beau oversees many sexual health programs including those targeted to gay men online in Chicago.

Beau served on the National Coalition of STD Directors’ expert advisory committee that recently published the “Internet Interventions Guidelines” which provide guidance to health departments and community organizations providing HIV/STI related health information and programs online

And Third, Doctor Brian Mustanski, Assistant professor at the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Brian is among the first to study how gay, lesbian and bisexual people interact online.

He developed one of the first online studies of gay lesbian and bisexual people. The majority of his work focuses on the development of “sexual minority” people and how the Internet affects us. He is also working on a study on the health and development of LGBT youth.

Listen as we talk about looking for sex and love online, the mysterious bug chasers, internet addiction and the the hunting instinct,

We also take questions from the fabulous people who attended this very fun and informative questions from the audience.

The success of the Center on Halsted, Chicago’s LGBT Community Center, has been met with some difficult challenges. Some of the people that need a place like the Center the most are the queer youth of color who struggle to make their place in the increasingly affluent gay bubble of Halsted street.

The well-to-do neighborhood where the Center is located isn’t sure how to react to upwards of twenty or so young black queers who congregate outside the building. This brings out some racist feelings in the local community and awkwardness on the part of the youth on how to best to relate or adapt to the area.

Poor, queer, black teenage kids, meet your white, queer older neighbors.

This is an exciting opportunity for these two distinct groups to learn from each other and grow as a whole. After all, society is changing so quickly that the “establishment” folks need to turn to the young kids to see what’s happening. And of course, young people have much to learn from their elders. What is the community going to do? can we come together to bridge the divide.

On today’s show Jason McVicker, your gay therapist joins us on today’s Feast of Fools. Jason’s the Director of Mental Health Services at the Center on Halsted and he talks with us about the Intergenerational Divide and how race, money and age are tearing us apart. We ask “What’s the matter with kids today?” or “What’s the matter with all of us?”

In case you missed the show, be sure to check out her singing “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” in the clip here on the right. She’s got some incredible pipes! What a legend.

It seems Broadway is just a little more gay, or lesbian this week after iconic comedian Joan Rivers talked in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about her lesbian same-sex kiss with then unknown superstar-to-be Barbara Streisand.

From the interview: “We played lesbian lovers,” Rivers recalls. “That was the first thing Barbra did; soon after that she really got going. Let me tell you, Barbra is a great kisser, but no tongue.”

Are they still friends today? Sadly, no. Too bad, today they would have made the ultimate lesbian power couple, to rival Ellen and Portia, or Laverne and Shirley.

According to Joan, Babs is so self-absorbed she never watches TV, not even the Oscars. Otherwise she wouldn’t have asked Joan the last time they saw each other “Are you still in the business?” Joan: “She’s not making a joke. She has no clue what anyone else is doing.”

A huge kiss to my peeps in Puerto Rico for voting down the gay marriage ban. And this time neither I nor Tila Tequila can take credit for it. Speaking of which, in California all the new marriage papers have “Party A” or “Party B” instead of “male” and “female” or “bride” and “groom.” The new question everyone is pondering, which one is which? Does “Party B” stand for the “BOTTOM” or does “Party A” stand for a Canadian with a six pack of Molson, you know, “PARTY, EH?”

How do you spell fabulous? F-O-F.

<itunes:summary>I love my divas, but I don’t have any friends. If you find yourself asking this question, have we got a show for you!
Joining us on today’s podcast is Jason McVicker, Director of Mental Health Services for the Center on Halsted -the Midwest’s largest GLBT community center. Besides providing daily help to many gays in need, Jason lectures on Opera. Jason is a man who loves his divas.
But for some gay men who suffer Diva Dissociative Trauma or DDT life isn’t always a beautiful aria. They avoid healthy relationships with their own peers and instead lose themselves in the works of powerful female celebrities.
When does our love for our divas interfere with our daily living? What are the warning signs that diva worship has gone too far?
Jason brings some insights into many of the mental health issues gay men face and some simple steps you can take to find help.
We also talk about a broad range of mental health issues and the brutal killing of 14 year old high school student Lawrence King. We discuss how to talk to young people about the brutal murder?
More on why you should vote for Barak Obama or is that Hillary Clinton?
Speaking of divas, stick around to the end of the show where we share with you some up to the minute Cher plastic surgery gossip.
We love our divas but more importantly, we love you! The podcast that brings out the sassy diva in you- Feast of Fools.
