And you thought Christmas couldn’t get any scarier.

The War on Christmas, an endless battle for the real reason of the holiday season has been fought through the ages and been won time and time again, not by the little baby Jesus, but by Santa Claus.

From Constantine, to Martin Luther, to the present day, religious conservatives have tried to crush gift giving, merriment and inclusive winter celebrations in order to have the holidays be only about their religious beliefs.

But the real miracle of Christmas is that nobody can kill Santa, and not just because he never existed, but because Santa represents a universal need for people to exchange gifts, power and comfort during the difficult winter months.

Ah those kooky Dutch, here's a Christmas tradition of Sinterklaas (Santa Claus) and Zwarte Piet (Black Peter) visiting the townsfolk. Christmas is a scarier holiday than Halloween.

Why didn’t Santa’s monstrous sidekick Krampus catch on in the United States the way it did in Germany and Austria?

At the height of American regional television from the 60s to the 80s, many local channels in had their own wonderfully unique christian puppet shows featuring female comedians. Many women developed ventriloquist dummy acts as a way to express themselves in religions that didn’t allow them to become preachers.

And of course, these demented puppets absolutely loved Christmas.

Seems easy enough- throw a little jingle bells to a beat, add some “ho, ho, hos” and slap a snowflake on it. Why is it so hard to create a Christmastime classic?

Ah that warm feeling you get during the holidays. Santa on poppers? Be careful Santy, don’t mix them with viagra! You’ll suffer from a stroke and die.

I’m posting this hoping someone will create a new soundtrack for Santa in the video. How about it? I want this in my stocking.

Christmas is so bizarre- the loud colors, the strange rituals and the omnipotent bearded Santa all lend a special psychedelic flavor to the winter months. A science fiction writer couldn’t come up with stranger holiday.

Somehow I missed this Funky Funky Christmas appearance by the New Kids on the Block on the Arsenio Hall show back in the early 90s. Watch how the audience reacts when Jordan Knight takes his jacket off and shows his milky white teen chest. Apparently he still has a great body.

For example after he got into the recording business he tried to parlay that into the toy business by creating talking dolls for little girls, in 1890. The only problem was the dolls were not very cuddly, heavy because they were made of metal and outrageously expensive costing almost a months salary.

Everywhere you go this season it’s impossible to escape listening to your favorite holiday classics butchered by the latest celebrity in the name of charity. But if you think this is something new, think again.

Being a slow newsday, and probably because everyone’s tired of hearing about WikiLeaks, today the AP put out an odd news story about how Wham!’s “Last Christmas” is the most hated Christmas song in Bulgaria. I had no idea Andrew Ridgeley never sang or played any musical instruments, except George Michael’s heart.

“Last Christmas” took 19 per cent vote, while Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” placed second with 15 per cent.

Apparently Last Christmas Andrew Ridgeley got a sack full of presents from Santa George. No this isn't photoshop.

Here’s my personal short list of XXXX annoying Christmas songs by celebrities, starting with Wham!

Wham! – Last Christmas

Few people ever caught on that George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley were a couple romantically, and that Andrew wasn’t really that involved with playing or performing the music. He was the group’s image specialist and spokesman, crucial to the band’s initial success.

Barbra Steisand – Jingle Bells

An odd choice of tempo and key changes that make this one of the most psychedelic, jazzy songs ever put out by Babs.

Madonna – Santa Baby

Santa Baby was Eartha Kitt’s biggest hit, but this thick accented Brooklyn 90s Madonna phones it in.

Lady GaGa – Christmas Tree

“Ho ho ho under the mistletoe.” I love Lady Gaga’s music, but this song is a piece of crap. Lady Gaga must have walked into the recording studio and done it all in one take, forcing the bitter underpaid intern to remix the song into something that didn’t sound like incoherent gibberish.

Rosie O’Donnell & Elmo – Do You Hear What I Hear

Rosie delivers this as if she’s standing in line to return presents. Notice the way the newscaster runs away from this celebrity train wreck of a song.

David Hasselhoff – Feliz Navidad

Actually, this album sounds pretty good. I was expecting David to mispronounce a lot of the lyrics, but it sounds like he really worked on it, and the instrumentation is pretty catchy. Even the auto tune sounds good! Don’t hassle the hoff.

It’s never a bad time to wear an ugly Christmas sweater. Here ol’ Snoop poses for a photo backstage with some crazy felt snowman sweater, which I think looks pretty good on him.

Santa John is our kind of Santa. Macy's will get Kohl in their stocking.

John Toomey, best known for 20 years at the Union Square Macy’s in San Francisco as “Santa John,” was told Saturday he’ll have to take his “ho, ho, hos” elsewhere because an adult couple complained about a joke he cracked.

But sir, it's Christmas!

You have to have the patience of a saint to play St. Nick anywhere, especially in an urban area. Actor John Toomey was popular with adults and children alike, mostly because he joked around with the adults asking them if they had been naughty or nice. His crime was to make things fun for everyone.

“When I ask the older people who sit on my lap if they’ve been good and they say, ‘Yes,’ I say, ‘Gee, that’s too bad,’ ” said John after being fired.

“Then, if they ask why Santa is so jolly, I joke that it’s because I know where all the naughty boys and girls live.”

According to MSNBC, the kids who sit on his lap, get only his trademark laugh and questions about what toys they want.

Some angry, uptight couple didn’t appreciate his off color humor and complained to the department store, who quickly fired the guy. John is appealing the decision in the meanwhile, living in a hotel on Market Street.

Bring back Santa John!

Perfect for the holidays! A drunk Santa is caught on a surveillance camera relieving himself, collapsing onto a car and frightening unsuspecting elevator riders. It’s probably fake but it sure is fun.

I’m so excited to find a video live performance of one of my all time favorite holiday songs “Santa Lost a Ho” by The Christmas Jug Band.

They describe themselves as “stalwart purveyors of the jugabilly mystique!” This fabulous seasonal band is made up of mostly San Francisco/Bay Area musicians who come together every year to perform their original oddball holiday songs, many of which we enjoy featuring on the podcast and in “Incredibly Strange Christmas Music”, our final show of the year.

Hey Kids! My Hubby and I do this instead of sending holiday cards. We like to recreate holiday specials with our own madness twist! Enjoy lovelies and have the Most Madonna filled New Year! Meow!

Here’s a religious celebration we can all come together on: beer. This Christmas, why not replace every single decoration in your home with sweet delicious beer?

Naturally, many uptight Christians are upset by the image on Buzzfeed and Cakehead Loves Evil.

But why does this offend them? It’s not like they aren’t drinking booze in their churches. I think a manger made from beer makes a lot of sense and actually seems sincere. What offends me is they didn’t use “Lite” beer, with everybody watching their weight nowadays. Would wine have been more appropriate?

What does it mean to “respect” someone’s religion? Part of our religious beliefs is to laugh at other people’s religious beliefs.

We made this video in anticipation of iTunes and iPods supporting video playback. At the time YouTube didn’t exist, and iTunes had only been supporting audio podcast subscriptions for several months.

You know the holiday season can get a little chilly, so I put together this fabulous medley of tacky Christmas music and my own original songs to help make things nice and hot.

Although this video was created two years ago, I know a lot of you still haven’t seen it, so I decided to post it up again. Thanks to the amazing Taylor E Ross who produced the music, as well as helped me arrange and compose the song.

Hilarious! A drunk man dressed up as Santa got out of the car he was riding, went over to some kids asking where his reindeer were.

Says 9-year old Katie Dockerty: “He was drunk. He smelled like alcohol so I knew it wasnt the real santa. because Santa doesn’t drink alcohol.”

Police arrested the driver of the car for drunk driving, but the man dressed as Santa, 55-year-old Thomas Arnold was given a ticket for having an “open intoxicant” in the car. He was released at the scene.

The good folks at Everything is Terrible are out with their Holiday Special, and like most of their other videos, everything is hilarious.

Going by aliases like Commodore Gilgamesh and Ghoul Skool the video blogging vultures hunt down rare and forgotten video footage and post clips up on their site or even better, create insane mash-ups that haunt your dreams.

The intro of their Holiday Special features an insane collection of rare and strange footage of the Olsen Twins, Tuna Christmas, and the Star Wars Holiday Special just to name a few.
