This was my second year going, and as usual it was fun.  Like most IML newbies, there’s always an adjustment period. It can be an intimidating environment, but always fun by the end.

I was talking with a couple Facebook friends about it and it occurred to me that there is a generation gap that exists between younger generations and older generations.  My friend, who has felt that he always got the “who’s this boy” kind of attitude. While it is a generalization, there is a little truth in the statement. Guys from younger generations are in the minority at these types of event.

Why is this? One could argue that the generation that started the leather community is the one who is drawn to it based on what the “ideal” used to be in the gay community. Masculinity is always attractive, but to what degree has “ideal masculinity” that changed?

I do find myself somewhat in the minority at an event like this and would love to see more gay men expand their horizons.

What are your thoughts? How can this be fixed? Or is this even a problem that needs fixed?

Bow down to the high priestesses of sex, friendship and fashion! Sex and the City 2 hit theaters last night and we saw it in a room full of straight women in groups of four and gay men. We loved it!

This champagne soaked, roller coaster ride of fun features a lot of over-the-top fashion, hilarious vaginal jokes, hunky guys and an over the top gay wedding officiated by Liza Minnelli, who sings and dances Beyonce’s Single Ladies.

And because of all these great reasons, the new Sex in the City movie is getting panned. Even Roger Ebert calls the characters in the movie “bubble heads…that make my skin crawl.”

Our friend Curtis Jensen, who truly loves most films joins us to take a look at the new movie and discuss why something so wrong feels so right.

This Memorial Day weekend, thousands of leathermen, fetish folks and sexual enthusiasts of every shape and size invade Chicago for IML the International Mr. Leather Contest and Conference. This year marks a first as the conference banned all companies that sell bareback porn, adult films that fetishize the lack of condom use. Will this move make any difference to the event?

Then there is his fabulous, and I mean FABULOUS, job at hosting the Oscars back in 2009. He opened the ceremony that night with a great musical number summarizing the best picture nominees and the conspicuously absent Dark Knight.

Today, while searching YouTube, I came across this equally FABULOUS  little gem of a Lipton Iced Tea commercial.  It has everything:  Dancing, Asian business men, food, maids, and, of course, Hugh Jackman.  Keep these fabulous performances coming!

Don’t get me wrong, Hugh.  Me calling you the gayest straight man around is not a bad thing!  The gay community has the power to make or break a person’s celebrity.  Look at what we’ve done for other celebrities we like Lady GaGa.   Then, look at what happens to those who gay bash- Isaiah Washington, I’m looking your way.  Trust me, though, your safe with us.

But wait, what if you aren’t able to attend?!?!  Well you’re in luck!  A new social networking site has emerged to Facebook-ize the fetish community-FetLife. It has every kink you fetishize.  Sure, other sites like this already exist, like Recon, but most fetish sites are pretty homo-centric, whereas FetLife is open to a larger community.  It’s not just gay men- straight, gay, bisexual, transgender, whatever you are, you are welcome.

In my opinion, this could provide a great framework for true networking instead of simply hooking up (which isn’t a bad thing).  In all honesty, Facebook can be pretty cruisy at times.

Since I am a social-networking junkie I added a profile, and I am going to stalk the site for a bit.  I’ll update if something interesting comes about with this new website.

Well, and let’s face it, a little  kink every now and then can be fun!

International Mister Leather (IML) is an international conference and contest of leathermen and leatherwomen held annually since 1979 in Chicago, Illinois. Always full of a huge assortment of leathermen and sexual fetishists of all shapes and sizes, IML is really a great place to soak in some of the more wilder sensibilities of human sexuality. It’s like being Jane Goodall, only these chimps wear leather!

Yesterday, the California Supreme Court announced it’s disappointing decision to uphold Proposition 8 which removed the right for same-sex couples to get married.

Although we taped this show in advance of knowing the decision outcome, many states across the Union are moving forward towards Marriage Equality. The fight may not be easy folks, but we will get there.

A dream deferred isn’t always a dream denied.

Today we’re talking to Leather Historian and 2007 International Mr. Leather Finalist Mark Austin about the history of Leather subculture, from the post World War II era to AIDS, from the Stonewall riots all the way to the modern day.

His four part lecture series called Leather 101, the History of Leather will be held at the Center on Halsted starting April 22 and continuing for the next three consecutive weeks.

There was two of every kind, and then some at this sexual menagerie of all kinds of fetishes last weekend.

Once we’re able to see our sexual desires for what they really are and not layered in shrouds of mystery we can fully begin to enjoy life and sex for what it really is- pleasure and fun.

We’ve also got some odd fashion news: a severed foot wearing a sneaker is found in Canada, again. It seems this is the fourth foot to wash ashore. We don’t know who is behind this gory aputating, presumably murderous spree, but it needs to stop.

Is Rachel Ray an Islamic jihadist or does she have bad fashion sense? It seems that some people are so upset that she is wearing something that looks like a Palestinian scarf that Dunkin Donuts had to pull the ad. Conservative Michelle Malkin said ‘It’s refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists.’’

Isn’t that outrageousness just wonderful? You can’t make stuff like that up. It is as if we are all sick of all these pro-jihad donut shops popping up everywhere.

On today’s show we’re talking to our die-hard power listener Pup Don, who happens to be into Pup-Play- someone who’s sexual fetish is to go around on all fours pretending to be a dog. Gay pride season begins here in Chicago with a sexy invasion of leather men and women from all around the world as the Palmer House Hilton plays host to the world’s largest conference of leather men, International Male Leather or I.M.L.

Believe it or not, there is a “Black and Blue Ball,” a leather recovery meeting (for addicted leather folks) and a “Mr. Bootblack” competition where shoeshiners compete to see who can polish up someone’s boots the blackest.

Stop by the leather market if you like hot men, freaky people and odd sex thangs is your cup of tea. Here is a photo of me with a guy dressed up as a baroque dandy in yellow latex. His sweat filled rubber suit reminded me of a Jenny-O turkey that had been left in the car out in the sun.
