The AIDS Healthcare Foundation launched a national ad campaign to discredit PrEP or Pre Exposure Prophylaxis, a new HIV prevention technique that involves taking Truvada (an existing HIV medication) on a daily basis.

But by taking this medication prior to getting exposed to HIV people at high risk could increase their chances for staying negative by as much as 73% in some cases.

In many ways, to ask people to accept gay men, is to ask them to understand and embrace anal sex. Yes, that is not ALL we do in the bedroom, but it’s one of the important things in our sexual lives.

Whenever I hear the statement that “gay/butt sex is not natural,” I wonder if this person knows anything about biology or animals that live in groups. All of nature loves some back door hanky panky; monkeys do it, dolphins do it, even… ok, I’ll stop now before it turns into a Cole Porter song.

Have we always been so shy about our behinds? In the late 1800s French professional farter and entertainer Joseph Pujol, known as Le Pétomane, was a staple at the Moulin Rouge nightclub where he would play musical instruments with his butt, blow out candles from several feet away. He wasn’t farting though, he would suck air in through his butt and then forcibly expel it. He could also suck water out of a bowl with his backside. Now, that’s a power bottom.

Today we’re shining some light into the place where the sun doesn’t shine. What are some common misconceptions about anal sex? How do porn stars do all that sex in movies? Besides using condoms, what are some new ways you can protect yourself from HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases?

Today we’re thrilled to have our good friend, writer and health advocate Jim Pickett joining us to dispel some rumors, conspiracies and misconception surrounding HIV/AIDS and healthcare.

The ACLU is condemning the crackdown on saggy pants in Flint, Michigan. The Flint Police Department routinely stops people who wear saggy pants that hang below their butts and issues misdemeanors for the offense citing disorderly conduct and indecent exposure laws.

The police cheif is even accused of asking the alleged offenders to lift up their long shirts so he can see just how low their pants sag. We know know that the only people that wear their pants like that are black kids in urban settings or white kids in the suburbs. I wonder which type the police are targeting.

Since we are always on the subject of safe sex, remember condoms aren’t the only way to protect yourself. You should always make sure that the place you are having sex is a safe and secure one. For example Taiwanese couple were making love in the back seat of their car when their car suddenly plummeted 150 feet down the cliff side. Although the unfortunate couple were bruised and battered, they did manage to climb back up the hill and get some help. We hope the woman’s husband doesn’t find out about the accident as he wasn’t the man in the car.

Wisconsinites, don’t run off to California for your same sex marriage just yet! Same sex couples that get married in California may get arrested in Wisconsin. An obscure law from 1915 states that it is a crime for a Wisconsin resident to enter marriage in another state if that marriage is illegal here. It carries a fine up to $10,000 and nine months in prison. Now you know what to get the couple for their wedding gift- bail bonds! We can’t wait to see how this plays out!

I’m not sure what to say about this controversial New Yorker magazine cover depicting our possible future president Barak Obama and his wife Michelle as a muslim terrorist and a radical black activist. I love satire, I love crossing the line and I love to poke fun at political leaders, no matter who they are.

Some are easier to poke fun than others. The New Yorker claims this cover is just a send-up of all the ultraconservative, loony misconceptions Obama’s critics have tried to create. Tasteless and offensive as it may be, they have every right to run this image and for us to react to it.

This country, and the world can not afford another four more years of Bush’s policies, and divisive, fear based politics. Having Barak Obama as President means taking a look not only at our own racism, but also how we criticize our political leaders. I think it’s healthy for the public at large to have a massive purging of our hateful feelings, but at the same time, covers like this might just have the unintended consequence of bringing us four more years of an environmentally, economically and militarily disastrous leader, John McCain.

Alas, no such luck. And I just don’t see McCain putting up much of a fight as he’s been pussy-whipped by W these past eight years. McCain is just a sad-sack of political corruption and greed.

We love that Arianna Huffington is promoting ménage à trois on her blog. Ariana, the Zsa Zsa Gabor of political pundits, is asking journalists to get over their “old media” vs. “new media” comparison and says how the news is made and reported has changed.

From her blog: “The debate that has been dominating journalistic circles for the last few years has been print vs. online — but, in fact, that discussion is totally obsolete. It’s as musty as the old barroom argument about Ginger vs Mary Ann. It’s 2008, why not have a three-way?” Why not indeed?

But the thing with sex is that everyone thinks they are the greatest lover, but sex is also like baseball; everyone can play baseball, but how many of us are good enough to make it to the world series?

In the 1934 film Sex Madness, the opening credits implore us that syphilis “must no longer remain hushed, but must be fought in the open like any other dangerous contagious disease….humanity must be enlightened! Ignorance must be abolished! Young and old.. rich and poor, they must be told.”

Sex Madness is a camp movie but even way back in the 1930s people struggled with how to discuss sex out in the open. Substitute HIV/AIDS for syphilis and you can see we might not have come as far as we thought in thinking about diseases and sex.

Are we seeing a new sexual identify forming here? It seems it is becoming all the rage for older women to assert their sexuality and date much younger men just like Demi Moore is doing with Ashton Kutcher. The urban dictionary describes a cougar as ” An attractive woman in her 30′s or 40′s who is on the hunt once again. She may be found in the usual hunting grounds: nightclubs, bars, beaches, etc. She will not play the usual B.S. games that women in their early twenties participate in. End state, she will be going for the kill, just like you.”

On a sadder note, by some strange coincidence, just AFTER we taped this show and created the title, a real live cougar was killed on the north side of Chicago. It just breaks my heart that this beautiful creature got trapped in the city and was shot by police officers. There has never been a recorded instance of a wild cougar in the city since it was founded almost two hundred years ago. How strange is that?

Chicago has it all kinds of furry creatures romping the streets- rats, squirrels, snakes, skunks, opossum, deer and a even a coyote. Last year a coyote walked into Quizno’s sandwich shop presumably looking for some food. It’s just a matter of time before wolves and bears comes to town, and we’re not just talking about Bearapalooza. When is Bearapalooza anyway? Check the schedule but I know we’ll be introducing them at Milwaukee Pridefest on June 7th.

Some people worry about what preschool to send their kid to so that they can get into the right schools for the rest of their lives. After all, the foundation you lay for your toddler today will pay off for them way down the line. But what if you are a gang member and your baby momma is a member of a rival gang? Although her intentions are good, wouldn’t it be more effective to show some of her sexy athlete/porn stars like Blake Riley instead of Chi Chi saying the same thing? The way a message is delivered can be just as important as the message itself. If you want more people to use condoms more often, eroticize their use. Sex sells.
