Yes, I’ve actually played this exact piano. While it’s mostly glass mirror, it truly is something to behold. What did I play on it? The theme to Xanadu of course! Although I’m sad the museum is closing its doors, I’m happy that many of these great rhinestone covered artifacts are going on tour across the country so that kids everywhere can enjoy the awesomeness that was Liberace.

Considered one of the greatest and most flamboyant entertainers of all time, Liberace inspired thousands of musicians including Elvis Presley to put a little bling into their stage shows. As Liberace liked to say: “too much of a good thing is won-der-ful!”

Damien Hirst’s Skull

Titled “For the Love of God” sculptor Damien Hirst took an 19th century skull he probably bought on eBay and covered the whole thing with dazzling, expensive Swarovski lead crystals. Hirst asked $100 million for the skull as a publicity stunt, which, if sold, would be the highest price ever paid for a contemporary artwork. Rumors are he never sold it and it’s sitting in box somewhere in his house. I’ve heard that posters of the skull are selling very well though.

Katy Perry wore these nails to some fancy video awards show, but I can’t imagine them being very comfortable. How would you wipe your butt with these on? Did Katy Perry wear diapers that night? I bet after a while, fancy nails like these start smelling funny.

As a young gay kid I was always fascinated by this extravagant piano player I saw on TV, and even once made rings out of aluminum foil to pretend I was Liberace. My piano teacher Carol Ortiz had dozens of piano shaped knick-knacks in her home, and even a clock on the wall shaped like a piano. My dad even helped me make a grand piano shaped chocolate cake to celebrate graduating book 2 in the Suzuki Method.

Join us as we talk to the President of the Liberace Foundation Darin Hollingsworth from inside the Liberace Museum about the man behind all the glitz and glamor.

What a place! In what can be best described as an ALL-Liberace themed strip mall, just minutes away from the main drive in Las Vegas you can see in person all of Liberace’s over the top costumes, cars and pianos and learn more about this complex man who made such an impact on showbusiness today.

Liberace never disclosed his sexuality but he lived and died in a different era. Darrin, President of the Liberace Foundation, points out that when he died in 1986 from AIDS, Elton John was married to a woman. How’s that for putting it in perspective?

Through all the sparkles of the rhinestones and the jewels, the legacy of Liberace that shines the brightest is the Liberace Scholarship for the creative and performing arts. Liberace felt he owed his success to the scholarships he received as a youth. To express his appreciation and to further the arts, the foundation has provided over $5 million in scholarship grants to more than 2200 students at 110 colleges and universities.

Remember kids, as Liberace once said- “nobody will believe in you unless you believe in yourself.”

Late last year comedian Sabrina Matthews was scuba diving off the coast of Myanmar when she was attacked by a barracuda which sliced through the side of her diving mask and slit her left eye.

She was rushed over the Burmese border to a Thai hospital and underwent surgery which was just the start of a lengthy battle to save her vision.

On today’s show Sabrina shares her extraordinary ordeal of the fish attack, her unusual treatment at a foreign hospital, and how the US government almost left her to languish in Thai prison.

Christmas in July comes but once a year or does it? Robyn shares with us her tale of her recovery from sex, drugs and booze. OK, it seems she never recovered from the sex part and we like that! But she’s been sober for a number of years now.

Things for her got out of control when she stayed up one night and decorated her apartment for Christmas. Christmas in July may seem like a good idea when your fueled by booze and drugs but when you sober up and see your house decorated in expectation of the arrival of Old St. Nick you began to reconsider your life.

The Indian Bible draws controversy from everybody, imagine that! the new Bible depicts Jesus, Mary and Joseph as poor Indian villagers. Mary wears a sari and has a bindi on her forehead and Joseph sports a turban and loincloth. Sadly, Jesus does not have eight arms or an elephant trunk for a nose. The Catholic Churchissued the new Bible to make it more accessible to Indians. Some Christians criticize the new Bible because they feel it doesn’t truly reflect Biblical truths.

Flying dog poop sculpture draws controversy from everybody, imagine that! The creation of American artist Paul McCarthy flew off in a gust of wind and ran into a greenhouse and a power line. The unusual art piece had a safety mechanism that would deflate it in case of bad weather but it somehow failed.

One nice thing about the calamity is that it took place towards the end of Monday night’s Zodiac Wine Tasting event, so suddendly we had to huddle in a men’s bathroom with over 80 men (and some cute women) and several bottles of fine wine for protection. Ooh, yes indeed!

A great time was had by all. Thanks to Big Jones restaurant for the food and the always charming Alpana Singh for co-hosting the event with us.

Heath Ledger’s case is closed! The feds have ended their probe into Heath Ledger’s death, and as a result, Mary-Kate Olsen won’t have to tell them anything. Investigators wanted to ask her where Ledger got the OxyContin or Vicodin that was found in his system, but now they may never know the truth.

Cinderella on Ice goes gay in Australia as the show features a gay couple ice skating. The couple in question are not the stars of the show but a couple at the fabulous ball. Britney Spears is set to play a lesbian killer in the Quentin Tarantino-directed remake of the 1965 cult classic “Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” Her character murders with her bare hands and has sex with another girl before the movie ends in a blood bath. Sources say that Tarantino “is convinced Britney will be brilliant… It could turn her career around.” If anyone can do it, Quentin Tarantino can.
