Chicago’s Pride Parade is just days away, and this year the Chicago Blackhawks and the Chicago Cubs are joining in on the gay fun.

Blackhawk defense-man Brent Sopel will be marching along with his wife and kids and the coveted Stanley Cup as guests of the Chicago Gay Hockey Association.

Although the Cubs’ home field is located on the edge of Boystown, this is the first year that someone representing the actual team will be in the parade. Obviously a change in the ownership of the team to a family with a lesbian member finally made it happen.

For us it’s been an intense week. The Chicago Tribune published a feature article on the Feast of Fun, calling us the “Oprah of Gay Podcasting.”

The article goes on to describe how we took a little cabaret show and transformed it into the world’s biggest gay talk show and helped pioneer the now booming field on internet broadcasting.

The article quotes also quotes Todd Cochrane, the founder and CEO of RawVoice saying, “What’s unique with them is they kind of helped lead the way into the (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) space. Their show has really evolved, and they now have a huge and very loyal fan base.”

We feel the love, and we thank you. But the comments have been hijacked by homophobes and haters, with some demanding that the writer draw attention to their favorite things.

It’s like every article on Lady Gaga must include something about Madonna, Blondie and Cyndi Lauper, or else.

Relax. The internet is a big ocean with plenty of fishies for everyone, so stop the hate and celebrate!

This past Saturday, people in over 50 cities gathered in public spaces for the Great Nationwide Kiss-In, a celebration of same-sex affection to draw attention to the sad reality of violence that still plagues us today.

President Obama signed an executive memo extending some benefits to the same-sex partners of federal employees.

After a long hard day, our friend MIchael Lehet shows us how to make a quick and easy 5 Minute Chocolate Cake. Click on the more tag for the recipie.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
• 4 tablespoons flour
• 4 tablespoons sugar
• 2 tablespoons cocoa
• 1 egg
• 3 tablespoons milk
• 3 tablespoons oil
• 3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
• A small splash of vanilla extract
• 1 large microwave safe coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, mix well then add the egg, milk, vanilla, chocolate chips and oil and mix until it forms a smooth texture. Don’t over mix it.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don’t be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired. We think it’s best served over ice-cream.

Michael thinks this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world, because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night.

Step in time! Get in line! Broadway in Chicago and theater producer Cameron Mackintosh bring the fabulous Mary Poppins to the Cadillac Theater in Chicago.

This musical adaptation of the beloved Disney film (iTunes) and books by P.L Travers (Amazon) features over the top musical numbers and acrobatic dance sequences that will make Lionel Richie bite his fingernails in jealousy.

British actor Gavin Lee, who originated the role of Bert in London outshines Dick Van Dykes film portrayal from the 1964 film. He brings so much charm and magic to the role of narrator and quasi-romantic interest to Mary Poppins that you totally forget about Dick Van Dyke mugging for the camera with a bad cockney accent.

Mary was played by Ashley Brown who also played Belle in Beauty and the Beast. It’s hard to compete with a legend like Julie Andrews but Ashley Brown playfully embraces the quirky character with the right amount of propriety and willful arrogance.

Listen as we reflect on the joyful musical and it’s deliciously dark overtones, including some wonderfully bratty children and evil sinister nanny who get their comeuppance. With tickets starting at $25, you’ll have a supercalifragilisticexpealidoicously good time.

Listen as Michael joins us to speak with Debra Taylor, the high school teacher from Granfield, Oklahoma who was forced to resign after her class on ethics was shut down by the superintendent of schools when he learned about a class project based on the Larramie Project.

The Laramie project is a play that deals with the public reaction to the real-life brutal murder of college student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. Debra Taylor used the play to discuss hate crimes and tolerance in the class. The superintendent shut down the class after Debra held a mock funeral so the students could mourn the termination of the project.

Debra was later forced to resign and the school turned the class into a silent reading hour. She joins us on the phone from Oklahoma.
