It’s the show you’ve all been waiting for, our LIVE podcast from Steamworks! Of all places indeed.

We packed up the microphones and recording equipment and took our booties down to the “Sexiest Place on Earth,” also known as Steamworks on 3246 N Halsted Street in Chicago.

What a turn out! No longer do I need to imagine the audience being naked, as they really were almost naked. Sporting nothing but clean towels, we were surrounded by hunky and lunky men watching our hi-jinks and tomfoolery.

Listen as Jim Pickett, Tracy Tyler, Sal-E and his surprise guest Terryaki, Marc Felion and me, Fausto Fernós share our wit and wisdom with the good people at Steamworks.

Did I forget to mention we interviewed porn actor Vinnie D’Angelo? Vinnie looks hot so please check out his pictures as he sat on a very special cake.

The girl who stole the show was Tracy Tyler. Pictured here, she caused quite a commotion when she boldly announced she was going to compete in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China by becoming the first transgenered athlete to compete in synchronized swimming.

Don’t hold you breath though, as Tracy is not quite ready to go under the knife just yet. Marc and I wrote that skit with the help of Mike Oliphant back in 2004 for the last Olympics in Athens just before we started podcasting. An old chestnut like that deserved a new life and we’re glad Tracy could
shine at it.

FOF #810 – Glenn Knows Better – 08.01.08

“On a scale from one to ten, just HOW GAY are you?” Imagine hearing this question from your roommate’s father, only he happens to be a famous and physically intimidating wrestler.

On today’s show choreographer Glenn Packard- the gay roomate of Brook Hogan from the reality TV show Brooke Knows Best talks about being asked about his sexuality by her famous father, the wrestler Hulk Hogan.

In case you missed it, the Hulkster got national press last week for not only asking her daughter’s openly gay roommate about his sexuality on their reality tv show, but for also admitting that some of his wrestling friends are gay. I wonder if it was the Iron Sheik?

So what happened after the conversation? Did Glenn ask Hogan just how straight he was on a scale from one to ten?

Glenn’s a pretty well known choreographer in the pop music scene and looks pretty good in a bathing suit. He’s really hot! Still, we’re dying to know what it was like working with Michael Jackson and Liza Minelli. Did Glenn teach Michael how to moonwalk forwards?

In many ways the popularity of Brooke Knows Best and other reality tv shows featuring primary or secondary gay people really opens up the minds of Americans embrace gay people as part of the family. Kudos to you Glenn!

We chat with Sal-E about some pretty far out underwear news as Queen Victoria’s bloomers just sold at auction at the sweet price of nine thousand dollars. But the more juicy detail is that the bloomers were crotchless. Naughty, naughty! Now we know where the name Victoria’s Secrets’ comes from.

It also interesting to note that Britain’s iconic queen’s measurements put her at five feet tall with a 66 inch waist! Now that’s a Butterball Turkey!

Meanwhile in Springfield, Ohio a creepy guy has been arrested for approaching children’s parents, pretending to be a children’s underwear inspector. Are people just that gullible?

How does a 44 lb. cat, possibly the world’s second largest house cat get lost? Poor tabby. It’s not like she could have run away. Princess Chunk, as they call her at her temporary shelter home will soon be available for adoption if the real owner doesn’t turn up.

Real live joker gang wreaks havoc in the south side of Chicago. Do violent movies inspire real-life violence?

Finally a robot that just may understand the concept of love as British university announces the Heart Robot an emitobot that senses how it’s treated and reacts accordingly. If the robot is treated kindly it relaxes and goes limp. If it is treated violently it tenses up and its eyes widen. It’s reported that “Different children react to him very differently. They either want to hug and cuddle him, and look after him like a doll or baby, or they just want to scare him.”

The flooding of a Chinese Restaurant has brought scores of customers into the place. The owner planned on shutting down due to the catastrophe but the ankle deep water delighted the customers so much he stayed open. Waitresses are having a hard time filling orders as people flock to this unusual restaurant.

Say hello to CAN-doms, plastic beer cozies inspired by condoms. Are Candoms just a cheap novelty or do they promote safe drinking? Their main function is to act as beer cozy but some say they have a side effect of promoting sexual awareness. What do you think?

Gay Season reaches it’s apex this Sunday as cities across the U.S. and abroad celebrate the modern gay rights movement by holding a Pride Parade.

Some may not know that the Parades commemorate the 1969 Stonewall Riots, a series of violent conflicts between queer folks and New York City cops that began on June 28, 1969 and lasted several days after the police raid of the Stonewall Inn gay bar.

The riots are seen as a critical turning point in the modern gay rights movement and helped galvanize people all across the U.S. to organize, protest and shape the future of sexual acceptance.

On today’s show Sal-E joins us to talk about his Muppet themed float for Green Dolphin Street bar in Chicago and follow up on all the drag queen drama happening these days.

If you’re going to the Pride Parade in Chicago hang out with us on the West side of Broadway, just South of Belmont, in front of the chili place. It’s shady there and you cna arrive to the parade late as it ends nearby!

Here are some pics of the parade in 2005, where we were trolling some hunky gay yuppie who was really enjoying watching the parade of hunks and skunks rolling on by.

Connell O’Donovan joins us for a phone interview to discuss the Mormon Church’s plan to aid the passing of a proposed amendment to the California constitution that will define marriage as the the union of a man to a woman.

Connell is a member of the support group “Affirmation: Gay and Lesbian Mormons” and a Mormon historian. He has written many works on Mormon history, including a history of homosexuality and Mormonism from 1840-1980 which is an interesting read.

O’Connell also shares with us his personal experience of growing up Mormon and the various ways they tried to change his and other people’s behaviors through such torturous methods as electroshock, vomit aversion, and exorcisms. They actually wanted to show him gay male porn and and give him a drug that would make him vomit and then later show him straight porn and give him a drug to experience euphoria. Can you believe it?

Drink Responsibly? You always hear those words of concern by liquor companies in ads, but we’re not sure what they mean by that. For many GLBT folks, our role with alcohol is a complex one, where bars bring us together, but for some the consumption of alcohol can ruin their lives.

How can we all have a healthier relationship with alcohol? How can we talk about drinking without pointing fingers?

FOF #771 – Leather and Lace – 06.02.08

IML, the International Mr. Leather conference came and went last week here in Chicago and we’re still recovering from the dizzying hurricane of leathermen, human dogs, bondage queens, otters, bears and furries!

There was two of every kind, and then some at this sexual menagerie of all kinds of fetishes last weekend.

The colorful sexual diversity expo included forced feminization, lovingly demonstrated by Marc Felion on listener RuffnStuff in this YouTube video from the event.

On today’s show we’re talking with Sal-E about the sexual fetish expo that took place here in Chicago and how the internet has changed all our expectations of what is far out and kinky.

After seeing Two Girls One Cup video, nothing seems weird or extreme anymore and that is probably a good thing. Here’s a link to people’s reactions to the internet sensation. Once we’re able to see our sexual desires for what they really are and not layered in shrouds of mystery we can fully begin to enjoy life and sex for what it really is- pleasure and fun.

We’ve also got some odd fashion news: a severed foot wearing a sneaker is found in Canada, again. It seems this is the fourth foot to wash ashore. We don’t know who is behind this gory aputating, presumably murderous spree, but it needs to stop.

Is Rachel Ray an Islamic jihadist or does she have bad fashion sense? It seems that some people are so upset that she is wearing something that looks like a Palestinian scarf that Dunkin Donuts had to pull the ad. Conservative Michelle Malkin said ‘It’s refreshing to see an American company show sensitivity to the concerns of Americans opposed to Islamic jihad and its apologists.’’

Isn’t that outrageousness just wonderful? You can’t make stuff like that up. It is as if we are all sick of all these pro-jihad donut shops popping up everywhere.

Sal-E Races Against the Sun

There is something mesmerizing about seeing Sal-E in full face driving around Chicago at 5 a.m. in the morning, getting stares from people as he lip syncs to the latest hot song from Madonna.

FOF #757 – Pre-Cycling – 05.09.08

Everybody is going green these days, and I’m not talking about the incredible hulk! Whoo I’d love to be around the ONE time his pants finally ripped off when he transformed.

No, were talking about the environment. Green is no longer obscene, green is in. In case you’ve been living under a rock, the fashion world is going ga-ga over eco-friendly products, and here at the Feast of Fools, we’re keeping up with the trends.

Our web-hosting company is green and although we shun the color from the design of the site, we carry ecological concerns deep inside our hearts.

On today’s show Sal-E (pictured here on the right) comes to talk about ways you can become an eco-frinedly drag queen.

One concept we’re tossing out there is PRE-CYCLING. Re-cycling means to find a secondary use to materials or objects, to convert waste to useable materials.

Why wait? Pre-cycling is the concept of finding use for an object before it’s indeded use comes to be. You heard it here first! PRE-CYCLING.

A man in South Chicago bought his own coffin and until the fateful day comes where he meets his maker, he’s going to use it as a beer cooler.

Bill Bramanti from the South Side of Chicago loves his Pabst Blue Ribbon beer so much, he had a coffin designed to look like the can. But before he’s buried in it, he’s filled it up with ice and regularly uses it as a beer cooler on the weekends.

On a darker note, two guys just got arrested for digging up a human corpse, cutting it’s head off and using the skull as a marijuana bong. I don’t know where to start with that one.

Pictured here in this file photo making out with David Bowie, the bisexual 70s icon struggled once with his own homsexual desire and even conceded to receiving electroshock therapy to “cure” himself of being gay.

In many ways marrying lesbionic Laurie Anderson is a nice compromise, and she’s a fierce diva in her own right.

For those of you who don’t know about Laurie, she had a #2 British pop hit with her song “O Superman” in the 80s and pioneered much of the midi techonlogy found in modern music today.

Hats off to Matthew Pope! The Kansas State Shawnee Mission East class of ’08 just elected their homecoming king and queen the same person. It’s openly gay Matthew Pope, co-captain of the cheerleading squad. Isn’t he adorable?

Every time he walks out on the court the kids erupt in cheers chanting “Pope! Pope! Pope!” The school goes nuts whenever he prerofrms his signature moves, a series of back flips across half the court. I’m sure he’s popular with the male atheltes as well. Ah progress!

Happy Cinco de Mayo everybody! Okay, so it’s a little hard to celebrate the Mexican equivalent of St. Patrick’s day, a drinking holiday, on a Monday, but bear with us.

Sal-E joins us to start off the show right with a pitch shifted, hi-NRG version of La Bamba. Then afterwards we serve up a little multicultural “es-spanish” lesson, Feast of Fools style.

One nice discovery we made while readying the karaoke music for today’s show is that all music sounds better if you pitch shift it up and speed it up. Try it!

In today’s busy world, we just don’t have time to listen to our audio/video content the same old “real time” way, now with quicktime you can speed things up and get your heart pumping and energy flowing.

Speeding up songs and pitch shifting them up is so much fun, I’m predicting that we’ll soon hear musicians on major labels release songs pitch shifted up to make everyone sound like chipmunks at 160 beats per minute.

Instead of “chimping” think “chipping” or “chipmunking” the song. You heard it here first.

In Chile, a mayor is handing out free Viagra to men 60 years of age and older. But, who are they going to screw? There wives are probably perfectly content to have not had sex in a while and the South American nation recently repealed giving out the “Morning After Pill” free to low income women. We are hoping that the Chilean tiny drag queen superstar “La Pequeña ” will intercede on behalf of these poor ladies.

I met Kevin years ago when he was a bartender and had just moved from Detroit, Michigan. Back then, he considered himself to be a performance artist and identified as a bi-guy and was dating his college sweetheart cabaret singer Amy Armstrong.

Today Kevin lives with his partner Ray in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago and performs all over the city as Teri Yaki.

Teri Yaki is quite a hoot and she crashed the taping of our live podcast at Steamworks and managed to titillate the unshockable crowd by flashing his nuts through his fish net stockings.

Why did Teri Yaki pee on top of her friend one fateful night? Why did he get kicked out of the Eagle leather bar? Who will win the drag queen wars? All this and a “Cher-Off’ on today’s show.

Ding-Dong! Avon Calling!

Children of the 70s like me remember some pretty interesting things. One of those things was my mom meeting with her Avon representative, trying out the latest lipsticks and perfumes. In our household, our Avon rep also happened to be our babysitter, so it wasn’t quite so unusual to have her around- but it was still fun to see all those little samples and sniff all the latest fashionable trinkets and goodies.

Here are a set of classic TV commercials for Avon from the 50s through the late 60s, featuring the tag, “Ding Dong – Avon Calling!” In the early days, Avon reps went door to door, ringing doorbells and presenting their wares. This isn’t the case so much anymore. I especially like the late 60s psychedelic commercial with all the wild patterns and colors. I could just imagine Sal-E at my doorstep presenting colors with names like “Shocking Blue” or “Neon Yellow.” I’ll take two, thank you!

FOF #745 – Adult Baby Party – 04.23.08

Waah! Sometimes you feel like a big baby and wish all you had to worry about was learning how to walk and when your next feeding will be. But let’s face it, the world of a child is a strange new world that can be very frightening.

In a stunt to raise money for a spiritual center at a truck stop, Father de Carli took the air in a chair attached to a huge column of green, red, white and yellow balloons

We’ve seen that “sexual abstinence” programs aimed at teenagers don’t work and may actually have the opposite effect, with many of teens in the program suffering from sexually transmitted diseases. It’s time to embrace the “sexy sigh.”

Last Friday your favorite podcast moved our mixing boards and microphones to Chicago’s stylish place where men workout, relax and play and taped a live show in front of dozens of men in their towels and our dedicated male listeners and pre-op trannie friends.

Meanwhile in New York City, everyone is still chomping at the bit on all the juicy details of the high-rolling sex-worker scandal tied to Democratic Governor Eliot Spitzer. So much in fact, everyone is having a hard time keeping up with the details as they unfold.

Who are the real whores in this scandal? Sirius and CNN. This past week it was announced that the struggling satellite radio company provide is creating a new temporary channel called “Client 9 Radio.”

The station offers up to the minute information regarding the disgraced NYC Governor who resigned following allegations he was a high-paying customer of a prostitution ring.

One new channel we’re all really excited about is Baby First TV. Calling itself the “the nation’s first channel for babies” provides mostly screen saver quality slow-moving images and clunky lullabies designed to entertain your infant or drugged out roommates.

If you thought Golden Girls and Lancelot Link were the only TV shows where the main characters wore diapers, think again.

Tinky Winky better watch out. TV Shows like “Color Symphony” are like a psychdelic acid trip and would make a great video wallpaper for any cocktail party. They require no writers and will entertain even the most tweaked out junkie for hours on end.

If you live in Chicago, be sure to check out The Scooty and Jo-Jo Show’s brand new show “TRAN – The Atari Musical” a pageant based on the Disney 80′s sci-fi film with all the bejeweled costumes, 80s retro music and video projection going on. It’s a hoot!

The hour and some long event features an eclectic cast of local Chicago actors re-visioning the Disney computerized film from the early 80′s with some crude but campy costumes and dazzling video montages made on Apple’s iLife creativity suite. It’s certainly a very promising way for this theater company to begin it’s 2008 season and a sure sign of good things to come.

Tickets are $15 and runs Thursdays-Saturdays at 8pm through March 22nd in Chicago at the Spot in Uptown. Be sure to get there early, as the house was full and seating was limited.

In case you don’t subscribe to comments on the blog entries, you may have missed an intense exchange by most of Chicago drag queens and nighclub performers on the show FOF #713 – 9 1/2 Inch Tiara – 02.27.08

So today Sal-E comes on the show to hopefully spread a message of peace and good humor, but I think it may have backfired on all of us. Eek!

If you see a mob of angry drag queens picketing our show Friday at Steamworks, don’t be surprised. The problem with avoiding drag queens is they look just like normal people outside of costume, kind of. Now I’m a bit afraid I went too far on the show and every time I see someone with thin eyebrows I get a little nervous.And I ask myself, will this be the ONE?

As if that wasn’t enough, Dawn Wells is in prison (get the FREE MARY ANN button here) and NYC Mayor Eliot Spitzer is going down for liking the for-pay sex services. What’s interesting about the scandal is that it’s bringing to light sex-workers who make $25,000-$50,000 for a three day sex-romp vacation. And champagne is not included.

Nobody is $50,000 ugly, so I’m sure many of us would welcome the opportunity to pay back some of those credit card bills and student loans by spending an horrible, awkward weekend with some lonely rich married man from the East coast.

How little money would it take to get YOU in the sack? My going rate is on a sliding scale, but not on money, it’s on looks. If you look hideous, you slide right off the scale.

Let’s talk about this seasons Fox television reality series American Idol. Did you get to see the incredible David Archuleta singing John Lennon’s “Imagine” this past week? I swear he grabbed my heart with his voice and put it somewhere in heaven.

Is Archuleta in Spanish a type of pork chop or a special kind of bean? Either way David’s endearing and touching performances are quickly becoming the show’s favorite.

The 16 year old kid, known for singing “I’m Not Going” from Dreamgirls to the first season contestants (including Kelly Clarkson and our own Jim Verraros) must be living in some bizzare fantasy world come true, as he grew up feeding on the fantasy created by the popular reality singing contest. Art imitates television.

I think however, his genius and wisdom in choosing such a song and the way he performed it made him the clear winner not just in this contest but for popular music as well. Ricky Martin is shaking his bon bon out of nervousness, because like it or not, David is coming for his job.

Yawn-worthy David Carrico has grabbed this seasons “huh” factor as it’s been revealed that he’s actually wearing a WIG during the contest, making “Idol” producers freak out. Unfortunately we might never find out if his blonde locks are made out of polyester since he and Alaina Whitaker, Jason Yeager and Alexandrea Lushington got the boot last night.

Meanwhile we’re here all ecstatic because we got a huge box of designer underwear in all shapes, colors and sizes in the mail, obviously wanting us to plug them on today’s show. How’s me doing a handstand in them work for you Danial Webster Design?

Poor RENT! The iconic 90s musical that made Americans face the fact that gay people, drug users and trannies lived among them has lost their lease literally on Broadway. After 12 years the musical will close in June making it the seventh longest running musical in Broadway history.

Rent launched the careers of a stellar group of young actors, including Taye Diggs, Wilson Jermaine Heredia (who won the show’s only Tony for acting as Angel), Jesse L. Martin, Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp and Daphne Rubin-Vega.

And also that black guy on Law and Order, but we forget his name.

Seriously speaking, this great musical helped to carry the message and visibility of gay men struggling with AIDS that Tony Kushner’s Angels in America helped deliver to audiences four years earlier. Although touring productions will continue for the time being, you’d better catch this musical on Broadway before the doors close on June 1.

FOF #710 – Stunning – 02.22.08

Stunning! Stunning! We’re all stunned by Robbie D’s remix of Calpernia Addams new song “Stunning.” It is a super pop trash hit that is sure to rise to the top of the club charts. We love the song because of the threatening double meaning of the word “stunning” or “stunned.” The listener doesn’t quite know what they are going to get from the transgendered songstress, a fashion show that will forever shame their own sense of style or a jolt of electricity from a taser that’ll leave them on floor writhing in pain. Either way the song is fun.

The lip synching queens at the clubs are going to go ga-ga over this song because it will give them a chance to strut their stuff, drop a whole lot of attitude and stun the hell out of the audience. Stunning is sure to replace the “flawless” and “fierce” in the drag vocabulary.

Sal-E issues an edict that he wants to do it first! So don’t lip sync this until our in-house nightclub diva performs it, otherwise you’ll get a stunning. But please check out Calpernia’s video for the song, because it’s well, stunning.

Sal-E gives us the dirt that queens dish out to each other behind the scenes at the club. Poor Sal-E strained his back from doing too many high-energy dance moves last weekend trying to give the audience what they wanted which was some clown-loving-madness. Did he deliver? Of course. He was STUNNING.

Some guy in Florida announced that he’s straight last week when he held a press conference announcing he had found a “rare nude portrait” of Marylin Monroe which turned out to be Madonna trying to hitch hike naked in pumps from her infamous book “Sex” originally titled “(X)” but changed because of the Spike Like film about civil rights activist Malcolm X. Check out the picture in the context of the book here.

I don’t know what planet that guy lived on but everyone saw that picture. Even in the Simpsons’ Marge said “British women don’t pump gas naked.”

We talk about Larry King, the teenage boy in California who shot by a classmate for being too gay. These young kids come out so early now and some people just can’t handle it. It is so wonderful that kids are coming to terms with who they are at such a young age but it so sad that others can’t handle it. It reminds me of what someone said “the future is here, it’s just not evenly distributed.” When will the world catch up to people like Larry?

One listener, faery4476 wrote in the forums “I knew the boy and attended the vigil last night. He was a kind, creative, and compassionate kid who had a difficult life. It’s such a tragedy that his potentially bright future was stifled by ignorance and intolerance.” We are so very sorry for your personal loss and we are sorry for the loss to the community as a whole.

Another listener of the Feast of Fools made it on CBS News for Candlelight Vigil for Larry King wearing a cranberry red Feast of Fools T shirts. We were very touched that he chose to wear it at the vigil and it was comforting to see the turnout at the vigil on the news.

FOF #702 – The 702 Club – 02.12.08

It’s hard to believe that we are into our fourth year of podcasting! With so many shows under our belt we decided to assemble a clip show to commemorate the good times. Welcome to the 702 Club!

We don’t do a lot of clip shows because honestly, the editing process is difficult and time consuming. As much fun as these clip shows are and as nice as it is to look back, we always aim to stay focused on the future, because that is where the possible lies.

In the coming weeks we have a lot of great new shows and guests lined up for you to enjoy. So please stick with us as we move on.

I know a lot of people will write and say “I miss this person” when they hear them on a clip. Please be assured we miss these people too. We had great times and good friendships with them. They contributed so much to all of us. They helped us live, love, laugh and grow.

It hurts when we come up with a great comedy bit and think “perfect for so an so” and there not there to deliver it, but it’s the old show business cliche that “The show must go on” and indeed, on we do go. It’s always a new day at the Feast of Fools and we will always seek out the brightest and best for you and for us.

The most important thing you can do to show guests you care is to get a profile! The bigger the community, the more they’ll be encouraged to keep on doing what they are doing.

On today’s show we talking with our Los Angeles pal Marsian De Lellis, who performed at the VERY first Feast of Fools show, in the Spring of 2008.

Marsian has been super duper busy studying at Cal-Arts getting his Masters in Puppetry Arts and working on a hilarious script about a ice-cream cake heiress and her woeful battles with self-esteem, addiction and space aliens.

But today we’re chatting at one of Marsian’s favorite vegan cafes to dish the dirt and drop names on the bizarre in the global art scene and to talk about more fun predictions for the future.

We all made it to San Francisco in one piece after our Live Podcast in Los Angeles. It was electrifying!

We all had a fabulous time on Sunday at Akbar taping our live podcast, meeting the fans and enjoying the joyful crowd.

Sal-E dazzled everyone not just with his great costume, but with his hilarious stories of visiting Palm Springs and being cruised by some rather questionable folks. Miss Ronnie was her typical true diva self, keeping it real and looking fabulous in her 70s inspired nightgown. Our special guest comedian Sabrina Matthews was fabulous and Steven Peterson sat on a delicious Strawberry Shortcake while Marsian De Lellis forgoed his dietary restrictions and licked off the frosting from you know where.

FOF #402 – Freaky Bird Room – 10.06.06

We all want to go back to Disneyland! Honestly, we had so much fun in California, first at our live show at Micky’s in West Hollywood, then spending the whole day at Disneyland, and then off to the Podcaster’s conference and People’s Choice Podcast Awards.

One of my personal highlights of the trip was seeing Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room, mostly because it had been left intact since the late 60s, only touched to repair the robotic singing parrots and orchids.

The innocence of the 16 minute revue and the naiveness of the racial stereotypes left me in hysterics and feeling like a kid again. Our good friend Mike said the look on my face was priceless.

All I wanted to see is one of the robotic birds break down, spin out of control and catch on fire. Is that too much to ask?

I did notice that one of the birds wasn’t moving, and that the orchid’s robotic mouthpieces made more noise than their singing, which only added to the delight. The “Enchanted” Tiki Room is really something to see because it’s still one of Disneyland’s original attractions that hasn’t been touched.
