Last weekend we had an awesome time hanging out with the cast of the Klingon Christmas Carol, and while we were putting on our makeup backstage, we felt like we were transported into some strange universe, with all the characters of Star Trek thrusted into the film Showgirls.

If Showgirls was adapted to the Star Trek Universe, which alien race would play which role?

Nomi Malone – Orion Slave Girl

Known for their extreme appetites and innate skills, Orion slave girls are the sexpots of the galaxy. With their ability to control men, they’d certainly become the headliner at any Vegas show. And, like Nomi Malone, they don’t learn those dance moves in class.

Cristal Connors – Klingon

Like her human counterpart, Klingon females have a voracious appetite and fight for what they want. If they don’t get it, they get very angry. You don’t want to fuck with her now that you’re friends. Want to go to Spagos and get some lunch? I hate gagh! It’s worse than brown rice and vegetables.

Zack Carey – Human

In the Star Trek universe you have to have a human (also known as a Terran) in the storyline to show us humanity’s foibles. I guess Zach will do.

Tony Moss and Penny/Hope- Ferengi And Bajoran

Tony Moss is all about business and that’s all Ferengis care about – the almighty dollar or gold pressed latnum. In Star Trek they ran the casinos, and I’m pretty sure they also would have run stripper bars in space.

Poor Penny/Hope couldn’t be anything but a down and out Bajoran working the pole or the Dabo table.

Human Resources Irene – Vulcan

Stoic and down to business with as little chit chat as possible, Human Resources Irene embodies a Vulcan bureaucratic sensibility. Plus, with the black hair and eyebrows, she’s got the look down pretty down pat. Below is T’Pau, an ancient Vulcan leader.

Andrew Carver – Cardassian

Cardassians are the most evil of villains on Star Trek, so it’s only fitting that the most heinous of characters from Showgirls would be portrayed by the lizard men.

Marty Jacobsen – Andorian

Sassy and petulant, Marty Jacobson could have been an Andorian in an other lifetime. Do a piqué turn Nomi!

James Smith – Vulcan

James is like a Vulcan going through Pon Farr, the Vulcan “sexy time.” Sure he’s horny, but he’s also very logical and knows exactly what’s going on when he warns Nomi “you fuck them without fucking them, and that ain’t right! You have too much talent for it to be right!”

Julie – Romulan

Cunning and ruthless, Julie has the heart of Romulan. Not only did Julie screw over Annie, she also helped Nomi catapult to the top spot in Goddess by lying for her when she pushed Cristal down the stairs. Those weren’t just beads Julie let loose on the stage of Goddess to trip up Annie, they were dilithium crystals!

Rugby hunks Ben Cohen and Daniel Conn identify as straight men, but are they part of the ten percent who get it on with guys on occasion?

Although the words gay, straight and bi are useful terms for men to embrace their sexual orientations, they don’t always do a good job of describing the reality of the kind of sex all men have.

At times, some guys find themselves having sex with other men, not because they are in denial, but because they are attracted to the speed, taboo and the thrill of two guys getting it on.

Today we take a look at why straight men from time to time get jiggy with another guy.

Quinto, who released an emotional “It Gets Better” video in October 2010, has never confirmed nor denied his sexual orientation in the past, but it has certainly been the subject of rumor since he burst onto the scene playing Mr. Spock in the JJ Abrams “Star Trek” reboot in 2009.   In the interview, Quinto discusses his latest film, “Margin Call” and the ongoing Occupy Wall Street protests, but the most revealing moment in the interview is where he almost nonchalantly reveals his orientation to the interviewer:

“…For one thing, he’s willing to unambiguously talk about his sexual orientation. His eight-month role in Angels was both “the most challenging thing I’ve ever done as an actor and the most rewarding” he says. Having to inhabit that terrible lost world, if only in his mind, took a toll. “And at the same time, as a gay man, it made me feel like there’s still so much work to be done, and there’s still so many things that need to be looked at and addressed.”

I didn't want to tell anyone at Wizard World that we mixed the two franchises up for this pic- Star Wars and Star Trek.

Stewart credits the intense working environment on Star Trek and his close relationship with his co-stars as the reason he developed a sense of humor. Beforehand, he was completely serious and at one time, he scolded his cast-mates for having too much fun on the job. They shrugged off being chastised by him but they never let him forgot his admonishment and would sometimes use his own words against him for a laugh. He feels as though the nurtured his ability to be funny.

As for becoming Professor X in X Men, Stewart says he entered the casting agent’s office and she showed him an X Men comic book and he asked her “Why am I on the cover of a comic book?” and she responded “Exactly!” He went on to explain that he was loathe to take the job as he felt that being Capt. Picard was already an albatross around his neck but his son Daniel convinced him to take the role, which he doesn’t regret.

His son Daniel let out that Sir Patrick had been out all night dancing with fellow Star Trek alumni LeVar Burton in Boystown (a gay neighborhood in Chicago) of all places. This might explain why his voice was a bit gruff or maybe he was already after a little of the hair of the dog.

One of the more funny moments for the audience, and probably the most embarassing for Stewart was when he was asked about the Alphabet song (see below) that he made for Star Trek series creator Gene Rodenberry. He said it was meant to be a private video for Gene Rodenberry’s birthday but somehow it got leaked onto the internet.

Although embarrassed about it, he seemed more pissed at the person who added a piano to his a capella song because the piano is off key to his singing and everyone thinks he’s the one that’s off key. He credits his tight dance number in the video to his wife at the time who is a choreographer.

We had so much fun talking with all the Star Trek fans at the convention for the 40th anniversary of the franchise that we’d like to share it with you again-

“Mom, I’m NOT going to the Star Trek 40th anniversary convention.” That’s probably what the teenage son was thinking when his mother sewed costumes for the whole family and took them to the suburbs of Chicago to parade around so strangers could take their picture.

If that we’re my family, I would be the young girl on the bottom pointing the phaser gun at the camera.

On today’s show we talk to several die-hard Star Trek fans about their obsession with their favorite film and TV series, why they chose the costumes they wore, and why are they so into the Star Trek universe.

At the time of the recording, the groundbreaking science fiction TV show Star Trek turns 40, and to celebrate they organizedconferences where the fans could mingle in costume with the actors from the show and relish moments from the program.

But before all that, today’s show begins with a nice refreshing gayed up version of the traditional Mojito recipe- the Gay Mojito or “Faustito.”

Christmas in July comes but once a year or does it? Robyn shares with us her tale of her recovery from sex, drugs and booze. OK, it seems she never recovered from the sex part and we like that! But she’s been sober for a number of years now.

Things for her got out of control when she stayed up one night and decorated her apartment for Christmas. Christmas in July may seem like a good idea when your fueled by booze and drugs but when you sober up and see your house decorated in expectation of the arrival of Old St. Nick you began to reconsider your life.

The Indian Bible draws controversy from everybody, imagine that! the new Bible depicts Jesus, Mary and Joseph as poor Indian villagers. Mary wears a sari and has a bindi on her forehead and Joseph sports a turban and loincloth. Sadly, Jesus does not have eight arms or an elephant trunk for a nose. The Catholic Churchissued the new Bible to make it more accessible to Indians. Some Christians criticize the new Bible because they feel it doesn’t truly reflect Biblical truths.

Flying dog poop sculpture draws controversy from everybody, imagine that! The creation of American artist Paul McCarthy flew off in a gust of wind and ran into a greenhouse and a power line. The unusual art piece had a safety mechanism that would deflate it in case of bad weather but it somehow failed.

One nice thing about the calamity is that it took place towards the end of Monday night’s Zodiac Wine Tasting event, so suddendly we had to huddle in a men’s bathroom with over 80 men (and some cute women) and several bottles of fine wine for protection. Ooh, yes indeed!

A great time was had by all. Thanks to Big Jones restaurant for the food and the always charming Alpana Singh for co-hosting the event with us.

Heath Ledger’s case is closed! The feds have ended their probe into Heath Ledger’s death, and as a result, Mary-Kate Olsen won’t have to tell them anything. Investigators wanted to ask her where Ledger got the OxyContin or Vicodin that was found in his system, but now they may never know the truth.

Cinderella on Ice goes gay in Australia as the show features a gay couple ice skating. The couple in question are not the stars of the show but a couple at the fabulous ball. Gabrielle Walsh of the Australian Families Association balks at the portrayal and calls it inappropriate. She says that “We need to protect our children. They don’t need to grow up any quicker.” Hey lady, kids don’t care who is gay.

I said beam me up Scotty, not blast me into bits! Deceased actor James Doohan who portrayed Scotty in the Star Trek series remains earthbound as the third attempt to go to outer space failed when the rocket containing his ashes exploded over the Pacific Ocean. After three tries, we aren’t sure if there is anything of him left to be sent into space but we are rooting for you.

Good news! 125 thousand gorillas were found deep in the African Congo. I don’t know how in this day and age that they didn’t know they were there. Where they hiding or something? After all, that’s a population the size of many American cities.

Britney Spears is set to play a lesbian killer in the Quentin Tarantino-directed remake of the 1965 cult classic “Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!” Her character murders with her bare hands and has sex with another girl before the movie ends in a blood bath. Sources say that Tarantino “is convinced Britney will be brilliant… It could turn her career around.” If anyone can do it, Quentin Tarantino can.
