Not on the Down Low

I got this video today at a social networking site. I thought was funny so asked the the maker of the video to tell me a little bit about the video.

The creator and white rapper of the video, Daniel Stessen says it ‘s based on a true story about his attendance at a cipher which is a jam session where everyone contributes. When it came to Daniel’s turn to perform he tried to tell them he was a writer and not a rapper but when they shamed him into rapping something he blurted out “I don’t do this very often/ I don’t mean to be rude/ but all I want to talk about is how I blow duuuuddeess.”

Daniel says no one laughed and he felt so uncomfortable that he had to leave the party. His friend Reuban who he met that night (and plays the guy who breaks up the beatbox) said to him, “You just can’t rhyme like that inside the cypher. People don’t like that” to which Daniel replied, “I will keep that in mind the next time I find myself inside the cypher.”

You can also catch it on youtube.

Here’s a link on the discussion about spelling of cipher or cypher. It’s all good though.

homo freestyling! I love it. This made my day.

And the spelling discussion made my day twice. I put my money on \”I\” any day. We all know that \”Y\” is a just a poseur sometimes-vowel.
