Artist Matt Freeman has come up with his own spin on the dog tag, an item whose sole purpose is to identify bodies in a combat zone.   He has taken the names of 11 men and women discharged under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and created dog tags with their names, hometown and discharge dates to bring attention to the casualties of this unfair law.  You can find out more about the project and order your own for $25 each by emailing Matt: dogtagproject@gmail.com

And in the interest of full disclosure… I am one of the 11 he has chosen to use.  Hurry to get yours, there are only 30 sets of each name and Molly Ringwold has already purchased a set for herself.

I was in the US Army 1960 – 1962. Nobody cared that gays were in the military unless you caused a problem. I was as quiet as a mouse and had 4 lovers in two years: A PFC, Sgt, Captain and Red Cross guy. Two of my (no, 3) had a fine going away party for me when I came back to the US. I was in Korea in the 1960′s. I loved the Army! Hey, I was forced to be alone with hundreds of guys each and
every day. I lost my dog-tags in the late 60′s in Houston.
