Queen of the Whole Universe! Who Will Reign Supreme?

FOF’s Middle Earth correspondent with the latest hot news from New Zealand’s cool capital:

Presently holding the Guinness World Record for the largest drag queen stage show, the Queen of the Whole Universe beauty pageant is on tomorrow in Wellington.

40 boys dressed as girls representing 36 different countries will compete for the crown of QWU® 2011.  And if that wasn’t legendary enough, proceeds from the show go to NZ-based HIV charities such as Positive Women, Body Positive, and New Zealand AIDS Foundation.

I’ve got my ticket to go, and if I’m not totally shell-shocked from atomic levels of fabulousness, I’ll be attending the afterparty at Scotty and Mal’s Cocktail Bar on Cuba St. Just when I was starting to sleep on a regular basis…

This event kicks off the 2nd Asia-Pacific Outgames, a weeklong celebration of sport, art and culture for LGBT people. 1300 are registered to attend, many from out of town. I’ve already seen some gorgeous new faces around here; I will definitely be out and about with my camera.
