New Chicago Pride Parade Route
City officials are streamlining the Chicago Pride Parade to reduce the cluster f*ck that it has become. The new route will run from the corner of Montrose and Broadway and travel south on Broadway to Halsted before turning east on Belmont, south on Broadway and east on Diversey to Canon Drive.
They are also starting the parade at 10AM with the hopes that people will drink less on the streets if it’s held earlier. Yeah, good luck with that!

Yeah starting it earlier will discourage drinking. *eyeroll* They’d have better luck if they moved it to 2pm on a Wednesday.
I don’t see it altering my experience too significantly. Those that want to watch the parade have a few more options for where to go which is good but you know on Halsted it’s going to be jammed as people wait to rush into their bar of choice as soon as the parade is done. I still have nightmares of being stuck in front of Spin for 40 minutes because no one would move.
I’m sure the churches nearby all love the idea of a 10am Sunday parade.
Most of those churches are in the parade already.
