Is Anyone Legitimately Shocked by American Idol “Shocking” Finales Anymore?

Welcome back from under your rock!

Because if you are just hearing that Lee DeWyze won American Idol, that’s probably where you’ve been. In whats being called another American Idol “shocking” win, local Chicago area paint store employee has captured the title of American Idol last night. But is this really shocking?

Sure, he was one of the fan favorites throughout the competition. But in the final night of performances , Lee choked in comparison to the runner-up in the competition, Crystal Bowersox. Don’t get me wrong, he was still good, he just did not have the stage presence or vocal strength as Crystal.

We’ve seen this before. Actually, if you look at the history of the winners, first place turns out to be the loser more often than not. As recently as last season with Adam Lambert, the clear winner who came in second. Do you even remember who actually won? Kris Allen. Yeah, I can barely remember him either.

Out of the eight previous American Idol winners, only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have truly achieved top-selling artist status. Why is this?

Well, based on what the winner “wins,” its actually in their best interest to come in second. The record deal they are locked into after winning has been rumored to be not in their best interests. So kids, what’s the moral of the story???

CONGRATULATIONS CRYSTAL BOWERSOX!

I really didn’t watch much of it either. It was very boring. I loved Lee, but mostly because I have dirty thoughts about him, haha.

  3. Ron Bleile says:

The true winners are the contestants that can sell the most songs on iTunes/CDs/etc.
History shows that even people that get kicked off the show from the top 5 can still have a great career.

And Fausto, how can you say something is boring if you didn’t watch a single episode?
That’s like saying you don’t like carrots but you never ate one.

    I remember Kris Allen,
He actually had more personality and range in his music abilities than Adam Lambert and was much sexier. So I was quite happy with the winner. Adam is great like the guy who played Gomer Pyle years ago (Played by Jim Neighbors…yes he can sing… heres a link to prove it. But doesn’t it remind you of Adam Lamberts singing…not the voice, but the style… just consistant and unchanging. No personality in it really.

  5. BASboy says:

hmmm… the link didn’t show up for Gomer Pyle singing… trying this again.
