Today would have been Pervuvian singer Yma Sumac’s 99th birthday if she was still alive. Sadly, she died in 2008 but her unusual music lives on. She was famed for having a five octave range and she sure liked putting it to use.
In 1972 she even recorded a rock album, Miracles which one review described-
Where she is all over the map, Sumac is controlled, passionate. Twelve tracks may be a bit much of vocal exercises, chirps, and incessant styling but the music has merit. Yma Rocks! Some of her music and TV appearances

The Trolol guy has nothing on her!
Happy Birthday Amy Camus, I mean Yma Sumac! Originally born as Zoila Augusta Emperatriz Chávarri del Castillo, she and the Incan government claimed she was a living descendant of Atahualpa, the last Incan emperor. What an amazing voice.
