One of my happiest memories was in 2006, right after we had had a tremendously exciting listener meet-up in West Hollywood, where hundreds of fans from California showed up to watch a live taping of the podcast, was when Mike Rocco and the LGBT staff from Disneyland gave us a behind the scenes tour and took us all over the park.

For years I’ve listened over and over to the “Enchanted Tiki Room” song from the Disney album Greatest Hits, and wondered what that show must have been like. Mike told me the theme park has keep it running almost exactly the same since the attaction opened to the public in 1963. They represent Disney’s first successful stab at creating the now widely accepted Audio-Animatronics medium.

The music was written by the Sherman Brothers, best known for writing the music to Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

There’s something wonderuflly kooky about the amazing voice over actors Purvis Pullen and Wally Boag as they sassily diss each other like drag queens, trying to get the audience’s attention.

My voice may not be beautiful, but my profile is out of this world. The problem is... it's not far enough out of this world.

Today the attraction is one of the most underated treasues at Disneyland, since most of the tourist flock to the attractions they are more familiar with, like the Indiana Jones ride or Space Mountain.
