If you haven’t heard yet, the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup this year. A feat they haven’t achieved in quite awhile. As would be expected, Chicago went hockey crazy for a hot minute. Growing unreasonably long beards, putting hockey helmuts on the Museum of Modern Art lion statues, and even, get this, watching hockey! Crazy, right?!?!
Despite their embarrassing homophobic “gay” photobomb and sexist Tribune Cover, they still have gay fans in the Chicago Gay Hockey Association who invited the Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup to make a Chicago Pride Parade appearance.
Hockey fans rejoice. Stanley is letting his cup be gay.
Earlier today, according to an article by Sun-Times Columnist Michael Sneed, Blackhawks President John McDonough is having the cup re-routed from the NHL draft to arrive back in Chicago fifteen hours early for the parade. The Cup will be joined by Blackhawks defenseman Brent Sopel and the Chicago Gay Hockey Association.
In other parade news, the Chicago Cubs will make their first showing ever in this years Pride Parade, making them the first major league Chicago team to have a float. Unfortunately, only cubbie Ernie Banks will ride the float as the team has a game at the same time.
It’s a bright day for Chicago Sports, and being gay!

Hey, Ernie Banks is a legend, and having him there is as good as full team representation if you ask me. This is really great news… it shows that Chicago and its professional teams are much more progressive than others. Maybe others will follow suit.
I’ll be in the parade with CGMC! Can’t wait!!!
Take that White Sox!
