17 Shot Dead at Gay Party in Mexico

A party in the northern Mexican city of Torreón that was organized by a gay group on Facebook ended in a bloodbath early Sunday morning when gunmen opened fire, killing 17 men and women and injuring 18 others.

    This story needs links to more detailed reporting, or the poster needs to do the reporting. This is one thing I dislike about getting news from blogs and worries me most about losing more traditional forms of journalism. The BASIC standards of journalism are tossed out too often in quick blog posts like this. Very frustrating!

    From the Huffington Post – no gay connection mentioned

    In fact I cannot find a single reference tot his party that mentions any Gay connection or even talks about Facebook. Mark what was your source?

    They got it from the LA Times although the LAT says “Organizers of the party were a gay group, Milenio said, but the invitation specifically said the event was open to all. Although that raised the possibility of an anti-gay hate crime, most speculation centered on drug traffickers as the assailants.”
