One of my favorite performers on “Sesame Street” in the 1970s and 80s was Alaina Reed (Hall), who played Olivia, Gordon’s sister.  She had a wonderful, friendly and warm personality and an absolutely gorgeous singing voice that was put to great use on the show during her time there.  After she was on “Sesame Street” she joined the NBC comedy “227,” where she played Rose, the neighbor and later, landlord to Marla Gibbs’ Mary Jenkins.

Here is Alaina Reed singing a lovely song called “Listen to the Wind Blow,” originally done by Buffy Ste. Marie on Sesame Street in the early 1970s.  (I’m not 100% sure, but I think the song was written by Ste. Marie.)

  1. So sad to hear this- she was one of my favorites. Here are some other great videos!

This one from 1977 with David (Northern Calloway) shows Olivia (Alaina Reed) how to brighten her mood with music.

  2. With Linda (Linda Bove) perform their rendition of “Sing,” Joe Raposo’s signature composition.

  3. Can anyone find her signing “A Little Bit” — This was my all time favorite of her performances.
