The Emmy Awards show is possibly the gayest awards show on television. Well, maybe the gayest after the Oscars, the Grammy’s, the Tony’s, and the NewNowNext awards. The Emmy Awards are definitely top five!
Either way, for the 62nd Annual Emmy Awards, Jimmy Fallon took the hosting reigns and did a fantastic job. To open the show, Fallon was joined by Tina Fey, Jon Hamm, Betty White, Kate Gosselin, Jorge Garcia, Nina Dobrev, Joel McHale, and the cast of Glee for a very Glee musical number.
There were a lot of surprises, and of course the expected “well duh” moments. If I could sum up the evening in three words it would be:
“GAY WON BIG!”
With Glee and Modern Family sweeping most of the categories they were nominated for, gay clearly was the winner.
Here’s the breakdown of the winners, and a special treat is waiting at the bottom, the opening number!

What do you think was the biggest surprise?
Sue Sylvester Doesn’t Want an Emmy for Glee

Comments
Biggest surprises of the evening for me were:
Archie Punjabi ( a woman) of the Good Wife wins Best Supporting Actress in a Drama beating Christina Hendricks and Elizabeth Moss of Mad Men.
Kyra Sedgwick of the Closer winning Best Actress in a Drama over Julianna Marguiles of the Good Wife.
The Amazing Race losing for the first time ever in Reality Competition to Top Chef
Aaron Paul of Breaking Bad (the best show you’re not watching) DESERVEDLY winning Best Supporting actor in a Drama (didn’t think he stood a chance as he’s always been overlooked).
and Edie Falco winning for Comedy in a show that seems more like a Drama (Nurse Jackie) particularly her role in it.
Archie, Kyra, and Aaron were the big shockers to me. The Amazing Race is starting to get stale I think, so that wasn’t too big of a surprise to me. I also didn’t realize Nurse Jackie was a comedy…lol.
And Archie’s character is bi.
Jimmy Fallon delivered the best hosting of an awards show since Billy Crystal’s Oscar years. The Glee inspired opening (though they should have pushed Kate Gosselin down a flight of stairs) was an instant classic awards show moment that will live in history. His Medley of songs about dramas that ended last season was also genius. Plus he’s so damn cute!
I like how NPH outed him!
