Here’s a fun recipe on how to make tostones- fried green plantains. Now, you don’t have to be in drag to make them, but it sure is fun to look good while you whip up this treat.
The best part of video is when Lola and Saltina go crazy crushing the plantains. There’s something about a nice “crush” that really turns you on. Now, Congress just passed a ban on “crush videos” but we’re ok as the only that gets hurt in this video is your sensibilities.
Try the recipe, you’ll love the tostones- they taste almost as delicious as the drag queens making them.

Harr! I had so much fun watching this… and it was educational too! But what were you dipping the tostones into (at the very end)? I would like to see more Cooking with Drag Queen segments in the future, girls!
What a fantastic segment!! Congratulations, girls!
How fun!
Honeys, we were dipping the tostones in ketchup but REAL, HARDCORE Puerto Ricans would dip in:
1) mashed garlic and olive oil
OR
2) mayoketchup! The best invention ever. Mix mayonnaise with ketchup and voila!

Lola von Miramar
So… bleepin’…. funny!!!!!!!!!!!! And educational too. A little bit Laugh-In, a little bit Electric Company, and a whole lot FABULOUS!
Awesome! I had tostones at a Cuban restaurant ages ago, now I’ll have to make them myself! No chacha heels though—I’ll have to use Doc Martens!
Wow! I need me some tostones. Great video of 3 sexy ladies cooking it up right. Daphne, love your sweet southern accent. Always nice to see Lola and boy does that Saltina has some guns on her.
You all looks fabulous! I have never eaten Tostones but I will try them as as soon as possible. I am tired of brown rice with vegetable anyway.
Have you tried Doggie Chow?
Epic win! This video is insanely fun. LOVE IT!!!
Have you seen this video out-take?
So the moral is buy a tostonera. I rate this video 5 stars. But the health department will probably give you a C for cha cha.
The shoes were clean Marga! Actually I found online that some people recommend wrapping the tosones in plastic and stepping on them, no joke! There’s even a song: “Patacon pisao.”
Ok Marc I could see they were clean -for shoes- and yes I will come over for tostones. I have heard that there are some asian latinas who will walk on tostones on your back.
Please use that in a sentence. “oh grrrrl, that taste like cha-cha”
You come over and I’ll make you tostones, habichuelas guisadas and arroz con pollo!
