Oh those folks at Google are always up to wonderful stuff on April Fool’s Day. To celebrate, YouTube has temporarily launched a 1911 button on all videos that turn your video into an old-time nickelodeon, complete with grainy scratches and an accompanying early 20th century piano soundtrack to match.
I’ve always felt that early online video carried the same kind of qualities that nickelodeons had, so it’s nice to see the video sharing giant jumping in on the fun.
The promotional prank video turns some of YouTube’s biggest hits into their 1911 equivalents. My favorite is the Keyboard Cat as they called him back in the day, Flugelhorn Feline.
