VIDEO: Pink Shirt Day 2011 – April 14

On Thursday April 14th, New Zealanders are being encouraged to wear pink to show they are against bullying in all forms. Inspired by a boy who was bullied for wearing a pink shirt to school, and whose classmates responded by buying 50 pink shirts and handing them out to wear in solidarity. In the enclosed video, openly gay Olympic athlete Blake Skjellerup of Christchurch talks about his experiences with bullying of the homophobic kind, and encourages people to tell their stories and write to the Prime Minister to help make things better now for kids who are hurt and afraid.

I thought just wearing pink wasn’t explicit enough, so I got this shirt from a fellow Etsy seller to make clear my stance on bullying. ;)

Update: Here are some shirtless pics of Blake!
