If passed, Prop 8 would eliminate the right of same-sex couples to marry in California. Let’s remember that gay and lesbian people are our neighbors, our friends, our coworkers and our family members. They are […]

  1. Thanks Molly and everyone else who supports their fellow Californian’s dignity and rights. An examination of the facts clearly reveals the many lies that the Yes on 8 campaign is predicated upon. The backers of Yes on 8, Focus on the Family have an agenda that has nothing to do with parental rights, less government, or protecting marriage. Their agenda is about oppressing entire groups of Californian’s. Examine the backers of Yes on 8 and you’ll find many out of state interests. The facts dont support their lies.

  2. We’re talking about the people that launch random boycotts because the targets have any form of gay friendly practices … I think it’s safe to say they’re a tad biased on the issue.

  3. Cray says:

Awww this was super cute! And she looks good!

  4. Jamie says:

California tends to be the leader on social issues. I was so excited to hear that they now allowed gay marriage. I pray that proposition 8 is defeated, paving the way for other states to stop this hurtful discrimination.

  5. We have come too far to let Prop 8 pass. Too much is at stake here. What happens in California will lead the way for other states and we need to get Prop 8 defeated. There are no “ifs ands or buts” about it.

  6. Louie B says:

We all deserve the right to marry. Now that gay marriage is in public view, it is evident that it is not as big a threat as some people try to make it seem. If gays marry, it has absolutely no bearing on anyone’s marriage. At the same time, if the right to gay marriage is taken away, that says something about basic human decency in this country. Please help us defeat Prop 8 in California. This is truly one of the most important civil rights movement of the 21st century.

  7. legalious says:

Equality is the way of the future. Dont drag your feet in the past, look to the future and stand up for same sex marriage.

  8. Rhea says:

There’s gay marriage here in Canada. Did the sky fall over here? Nope. We’re still our boring, yet pleasant, selves. Life goes on, folks. Don’t take away the right of gay Californians to get married or stay married.

  9. I’m not in California, but I am affected by this everyday. I live in Utah, and attend school in Utah Valley (the most concentrated mormon population). I have lost many friends over this issue. The Mormons have been spending millions to push prop 8. they are spreading lies on their official websites, AND even have a call center in Utah Valley, where they are encouraging the members to volunteer to call Californian Voters. All of this makes me SICK. You wouldn’t believe the things I’ve heard (although I fear a lot of it you have heard), but my favorite was my best friend (past tense, we are no longer friends, I called her a “bitch, bigot, and a religious fanatic)
“you can’t have a valid relationship, because it’s not like mine.”

Oh BTW she recently got married, prior to this, she wasn’t like this. AND on top of all of that, she is in San Fran RIGHT NOW, on her honey moon. She told me she is super excited to see the “gay places.”
Even worse, we are ballet majors, I say, if you can’t accept and value gay men, get the hell out of dance. You wouldn’t have ballet if it weren’t for Gay men!

It makes me sick that people will gladly take advantage of who we are, and what we have to offer, yet will tell us to our faces that we are not valid.

Sorry don’t know how that was super relevant, but it has been pissing me off SO much, I needed to vent…..

Thanks Marc and Fausto for posting this and doing your part to get donations. We need all the support we can get here in California from voters in Californians as well as good people everywhere. We are fighting some strong opposition. This results of this vote has ramifications for the whole country.

  11. Timmy T says:

We absolutely have to stop this from passing! Thanks guys for bringing this to attention.

Who has the right to decide who can marry who? If you don’t like gay marriage, don’t marry someone of the same sex!

I cannot stress enough how much this needs to be stopped. Everyone needs to donate as much as they can to no on prop 8!

  12. Curtis says:

Austin, that was absolutely relevant, because that story is exactly what the Mormon Church hopes to accomplish and nurture through this fight. They want the general public to completely devalue LGBT folks and our relationships. They want us dehumanized and reduced to a barely tolerated social nuisance good only for occasional cultural contributions and comic relief. It protects their ability to continue to discriminate.

The church was pressured by public opinion and changing political climate to allow Blacks to become full fledged members of the church with the ability to hold priesthood office when I was a deacon in the late 70’s. It irritated the old guard in the church who had spent decades battling against civil rights measures. They lost that battle and they are determined to not loose this one. To lose would remove the last bastion of socially acceptable excuses left for them to justify being anti-gay; they can claim to oppose any sex outside of wedlock. It comes off as a “reasonable” position. If LGBT marriages have legal standing, then they lose that excuse. They would have to admit they discriminate or abandon the discrimination. They don’t want either of those outcomes.

I challenged my Mother, the Relief Society president of her ward in West Valley City, Utah to “tithe” to the No on 8 campaign this month.

This is a critical battle and EVERY LGBT person needs to donate money, because the opposition is convincing it’s membership that EVERY one of them must donate. Don’t let our own iaction, our own laziness, our own attitude that someone else will take care of this to be the thing that makes us fail. We have to all be involved in this fight. Ask yourself every day before you go to bed, “What did you do to stop Prop 8” Give something, anything, it doesn’t have to be a huge donation, but dig as deep as you possibly can.

  13. matt says:

Donations are going to be matched until midnight Sunday. So do whatever you can!

  14. We passed the hat at the show the other night and got $106. And Matt, I’m not sure about that link but it wouldn’t take our card. It kept saying there was a problem.

  15. Mark says:

Big thanks for Marc and Fausto for raising this issue at last night’s WNTW event at Hydrate and passing the plate (actually a brown paper bag) to raise money to stop Prop 8. You guys rock!
