  1. Jonathan says:

The thing I like about headda Lettuce is the fact that he looks like a she. Maybe its just the pictures but I could almost mistake her for a real woman. I don’t like drag queens that are 6’4” before the heels and weigh 300 lbs with their stubble on their chin.

  2. I loved listening to Hedda she was so funny had me laughing the whole time.

  3. Barbara says:

I like the name Miss Understood. My moniker “beahaven” is a homage to Miss Bea Haven. Liberace first job was playing piano for the burlesque queen, Miss Beatrice Haven.

  4. Daniel says:

Would one consider Hedda a drag queen or a female impersonator?
My understanding is that a female impersonator actually just tries to actually seem like a woman and it isn’t just for show, but drag queendom is. I dunno, maybe I just need to catch up on all my gay community knowledge, since most of it has gone away.

  5. OMG Hedda is hilarious “if you’re looped on pills booze and white trash dick you dont know what you’re for, she married a grifter!” Great guest thx for the show

  6. groggy says:

Pretty, funny and fabulous! Loved the show.

I didn’t catch, which Samantha’s boyfriend was she?

  7. Rob says:

She was Samantha’s X boyfriend who much to Samantha’s surprise later in life had become a drag queen
Samantha ran into her at a charity bingo event or something. The funny party was that Hedda was using “samantha” as a
    drag name on the show.

  8. Cassiano says:

Hedda looks like a beautiful version of Kylie Minogue’s Green Fairy but with better hair extensions.
    Love the show.

  9. groggy says:

Thanks Rob! I remember now. The green hair misleaded me (it looks perfect, by the way).

  10. Rob says:

Glad to help groggy !! I remember the episode but at the time I had
    no clue who she was.

I read her blog she writes from Provincetown each day over the summers.
It’s hilarious!! You should check it out.

  11. Hedda was amazing make me laugh the whole show I always love when you have drags on the show. Thou she cannot be the queen of mean that’s Lisa Lampinnelli

  12. Hedda was such a great guest. I like the way she kept repeating all the questions to herself before she would answer them. Especially in the breakdown!! LOL 😉 Thanks guys for another great show!

  13. Ventura79 says:

so far the BEST breakdown 2007 this year! hedda was hella funny! I love me some drag queens! Great show guys!

  14. bradley says:

    hilarious. Hedda is awesome.

  15. Cliff Dix says:

Guys, there is a big difference between Scott Thompson and Fred Thompson. One is running for president for the Republicans. The other is a gay comedian from Canada. I would prefer Scott Thompson as president. Think “Buddy Cole” up in the White House.

  16. PupDon says:

OMG, I nearly fell out when Hedda said “Hildo”. You guys crack me up!

I first heard the name Hedda Lettuce back in the mid 90’s. I was having dinner with my friend Betty and her friend Sal Piro, who was (and might still be) the President of the Rocky Horror Fan Club. We were talking about drag queens and he said his favorite drag name was Hedda Lettuce. I almost pissed myself laughing. What an awesome name I thought. I’ve heard her name over and over throughout the years since but have never actually heard her talk. Thank you for this show. It was like a missing puzzle piece in my life. 🙂

  17. Daniel says:

Hedda really is random and hilarious, I just really took notice.

  18. Please move to Phoenix. We are in desperate need of hilarious draq divas such as your self. Thanks for all the laughs! When the cross country tour?

  19. Chad says:

The first time I saw Hedda was in the late 90’s at a gay bar in Albany NY called “Waterworks”. It was totally a shit hole, but she did great!

  20. Maia says:

Hedda is so quick on her toes. What a great show! The breakdown was hilarious.

The woman has my vote. I’m thinking write-in candidate for the Green Party?

  21. matt says:

I am pondering Hedda Lettuce for a write in candidate for the Republican Party. Hedda unites all. She is polypartisan.

  22. The show was really funny and made me laugh. Exactly what I needed after a stressful day ! The breakdown have been the best so far in 2007.

  23. Ross says:

Wow, Hedda has such a quick wit. Every minute of the show was funny! Keep finding these great guests, boys!

  24. Patrick says:

I’m just curioius, but why whenever Lady Bunny is mentioned it seems to be in a love/hate her fashion?

  25. hehe great show…she was very charming and entertaining. i loved her answers to the Breakdown…

and she makes a really convincing woman. o.O really that face of hers…she could easily pass off as a real woman. *nod nod*

  26. Maia says:

I noticed a landmark moment in the show — the first time you said you would edit something out, and you actually did! Are Miss Understood’s henchqueen minions that intimidating? Or are you guys just being more fastidious in post-production? I jumped a little when I heard the BLEEP!. I’ve gotten used to your uncensored ways!

(new word of the day: Faustidious.)

  27. Mark says:

Excellent show. Hedda Lettuce is really funny and sharp! I enjoyed every second of the show.

  28. RcktMan says:

I LOVED HEDDA! She really helped me pick up my spirits after a not-so-cheerful day. I’d love to see her come back to Chicago again– this time for a one-woman show. I’d buy a couple tix for sure. 🙂

  29. Great show so far… I haven’t finished listening just yet but it’s getting late and I need to sleep

  30. Ah the bleep. Fausto finally found one that actually sounds like a bleep.

  31. ALL shows are edited. Believe it or not.

  32. Why people love/hate Lady Bunny is because they have mixed feelings about her career. People need to be entertained, but some might criticize Lady Bunny for being too vulgar and dumb. That’s show-business! You can’t please everyone.

Nobody can ignore her contributions to modern popular gay culture and that she makes a solid living at being a drag queen. Her blog’s really great too.

  33. Patrick says:

Thanks for the explanation. Since I’ve been living out of the US I’ve been out of the loop in some aspects of popular culture.

Maia does have a point. While I know every show is edited, there have been times when you tell a guest “don’t worry… we will edit this out” but we can still hear whatever they wanted edited. I always thought it was funny. 🙂

  34. Maia says:

yes, Patrick, I always loved that… made me feel like I somehow got the uncensored director’s cut — very endearing. I know you work hard to edit all the shows, Fausto! I just didn’t think you edited OUT.

As in: Maia works, but she doesn’t work out. Fine distinctions. 😉

  35. George says:

Hedda is probably one of the funniest and entertaining guests you’ve had all year. When she said Lady Bunnie was 80 years old and on her last legs I think I died laughing.

  36. squid138 says:

don’t drink and Drag?! that’s the best line!

  37. Richard says:

I had no idea Hedda had been round so long or that she’d been in To Wong Foo. I must go looking through the movie now. Excellent show. Hedda is so funny. I listened to it as I got into bed just so I’d have something fabulous with me on a late night for a change 😉

  38. Curtis says:

Haven’t finished with the show yet, but wanted to comment that is a gross oversimplification of the ENDA history to “blame” Barney Frank for removal of Transgendered language from the bill. There’s a real case to be made that we’re sacrificing the bill over principle and that we may have added another 20 years to the battle. Politics is so often about compromise and transgendered people weren’t even mentioned in the bill until sometime in the last several years. WE’ve been trying to get this passed now for 30 years.

All Barney Frank has done is state that he believes the GBLT lobbying community is shooting itself in the foot for a symbolic act of solidarity.

I have mixed feelings about it. On the one hand It’s so great to see the community stand together. On the other I think its coming at a great cost. Rights aren’t always granted all at once, in fact never are. Our community has been working to get this bill passed for 30 years and there are Gays and Lesbians in 31 states who can be fired for being Gay that will remain unprotected so that we can all have a warm fuzzy feeling about how unified we are as a community.

I don’t understand what prevents us from passing this piece of it and then working together for Trans inclusion. It would be great if we could get it all at once but that is simply not possible right now.

  39. LOve Hedda music, what a way to start the show!
it you just put me in a great mood on the spot. WOOOO!
    Thx

  40. I’ve been a big fan of Hedda Lettuce since 1991 when I moved to New York City. I used to see her perform live at the Sordid Lives weekly show at the Pyramid Club on Ave A in the East Village. I’m a little disappointed that she didn’t talk about her mom, Bedda Lettuce. I’m a big fan of Bedda too!!! LOL. Anyway, I’m SO HAPPY Hedda’s running for president! I think she may have my vote. I voted for Joan Jett Blakk of the “Let’s Party” Party in 1996 (I was pissed off at Bill Clinton for his conservative turn) so it won’t be the first time that I’m voting for a drag queen for president–you just write in her name. And I’ve voted for the Green Party in the last two elections (2000, 2004) so Hedda kind of brings together two of my political affinities: greenness (er, I mean ecology and a concern for the environment) and LGBT politics.

  41. Jason says:

Honey, I hate to tell you this but it is Fred Thompson not the other name, I heard it this morning and just now got to put in on the comments…

    Hugs!! you SEXY BOYS!!

  42. Tommy says:

    Hedda is too fabulous.
Just like Marc, Fausto, Mizz Ronnie, Sal-E and Amanda.

  43. Wow, what a talented drag performer.

Thanks for having her on the show. We had never heard of her before.

But we had seen her a couple of times as we’ve got ‘Sex and the City’ and ‘To Wong Foo’ in our DVD collection.

Will have to go back and watch them again to see her appearance.

Hedda is really witty and fun. Would love to see her perform live someday. For now it’s a dream….but who knows where good fortunes may make a connection.

Thanks for introducing us to Hedda. You really do learn all sorts of new things on The Feast of Fools.

    Hugs from Brisbane, Australia,
    Shaun and Mel
