Fausto Fernós is the host of iTunes’ #1 LGBT talk show, the Feast of Fun podcast, which he produces and hosts with his partner, Marc Felion.
Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Fausto Fernós created the Feast of Fools in 1998 as wacky artists variety show in Chicago, Illinois. Feast of Fun grew out of an audio blog to promote the live show into the world’s most downloaded talk show aimed for gay people.
When he’s not blogging, recording or sleeping, Fausto can be found at the gym or appreciating the beauty found in nature.

From quarter turns to quarters laying under the toll taker, this was another great show. I love the occasional show were it is just Fausto and Marc shooting the shit. About 10 years ago I had a flat and needed help, I was near a Wendy’s and there was a pay phone. I had no quarters or cell phone so i walked over to the Wendy’s drive-thru and took a quarter off the ground.

As we discussed when i did my interview with you guys, I don’t necessarily support the idea of gay marriage. But what Rufus said, I feel was completely taken out of context. Like myself , he is agreeing that government should have no say in who you want to be with, who you want to marry, or who you want to have sex with. I personally agree with him. The government should have absolutely NO say in what, who, or how I wish to love. I feel his statement is all encompassing and showing open-mindedness towards all people, no matter how they love.
Go love! That is the statement.

In my eyes, when it comes down to it, it’s that damn word…”Marry.” Even I am guilty of using it. Its a biblical word, which should have no business in our government offices. Marriage is something that is done in a church if you like. You shouldn’t apply for a “marriage license” at city hall, you should get a “civil union.” I don’t necessarly think that every person that is against “gay marriage” would be so if it wasn’t called, marriage. That word strikes with religious base and values.
I am totally for people getting a Union, gay or straight. Marriage to me is just the ceremony, your together once you get a pice of paper from city hall. If there is anything to fight for, it’s the paper, not the word. Priorities.

That out of the way (remember, big fan here). The word Marry is not a biblical word. It is a secular word with it’s origins in the 14th century. I agree that Marriage has no place linked to religion except as far as the individual is concerned. The benefits of being married are civil and the statement is personal; neither of which belong in a church unless the personal preferences/beliefs of the people involved make it such.
“Marry” may just be a word, but it’s a word with lots of history. Our parents got married (well some of them did), our grandparents stayed married (well most of them did). We associate the word with romance, a lifetime of love, partnership and stabiliy. I say why can’t GLBT people continue that history? That right was recognized in Canada and I strongly encourage you not to give up the fight or compromise on the result you want.
I guess that I should also qualify my statements with the assumption that the concept of Marriage as most people think of it today is likely religious in origin though probably pre-dates Christianity.

If recognized by the state, by the religion(s) to which the parties belong or by society in general, the act of marriage changes the personal and social status of the individuals who enter into it.
It’s all down to how a state wishes to define it, this is why I am pro state rights vs. Federal government. I feel that the fed government has no right in inter-personal state rights. Maybe I am a libertarian as well, lol. I don’t even smoke pot.

Love your show as always. I just got to listening to this today.. I know its late but I download the podcast once a week and listen to it when I drive to and from work for the past week. Anyways you mentioned that you will be driving through Memphis when you return from Austin? I dont live in Memphis but about an hour away I would make the drive to meet you guys if you are doing a show or just stopping through if its on a weekend. Used up all my vacation time this christmas break 🙁
