Today we’re talking to comedy writer and gay legend Bruce Vilanch, who worked as a writer for The Star Wars Holiday Special, and also on many lavish, campy TV specials of the 1970s including The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.

Listen as Bruce talks to us about the wonderful tacky world of TV specials from the 1970s and he also reveals that there is a documentary on the Star Wars Holiday Special in the works!

  1. Rick Aiello says:

“Come with me to Squares, I haven’t got SHI-I-I-I-T! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!! What a hysterical interview. We love Bruce!!!! Loved all the back-story on the Star Wars Christmas Special. It puts a lot of it into perspective!!!

  2. Faramir says:

I saw Bruce Vilanch in the movie “Oy Vey My Son Is Gay” where he portraits a (sort of) closeted married gay man.
It’s just a minor character but very funny!!!

  3. Jamie says:

Great show guys! I had the honor of meeting Mr. Vilanch in his dressing room while he was on tour with Hairspray. He was such a gracious, kind guy. Totally down to earth and with no star attitude at all. Plus he had a 20 something “dresser” who was very easy on the eyes. 😉

Thanks guys for this wonderful show!

  4. John says:

Awesome show, love Bruce! You guys need your own TV show.

  5. Xavi says:

Great show! my favorite bv line from an old interview:

Question – has anyone every said you look like fozzy bear?

Bruce – how do you like that, i’ve got Jim Hensen’s fist up my ass.

best line from this interview: see Rick’s comment above. hissssterical!
