Did you know that people who have more symmetrical faces get looked over for jobs, taller folks die sooner, people and attractive folks, in general, are less fertile?

Today we take a look at some physical obstacles that you may think are holding you back, could actually be saving your life.

  1. Thanks for the podcast! I take your p-cast on my Friday runs every week. It’s a great way to pass time while running for 1.0 hours. “Lindsay L. has spilled more than I’ve consumed” would make a great t-shirt, as well as Man’s Rejection is G*d’s Protection. Enjoy Comic-con and Market Days – I’m excited for next weeks p-casts of Chicago comedians. B well. – david

  2. well, with all that info it looks like I’m set to live a long life….

too bad I don’t want to live long, and many of those things you guys listed that leads to longer living, like height, are things I hate about myself.

    oh well.

    great show as always!

  3. Than says:

The importance of longevity (versus quality of life) is that ‘if you can live long enough, you can live forever’ to borrow a phrase from Ray Kurzweil. When we die, our memories are lost. Some of our unique knowledge and perspective is lost. Our creativity is lost. Our human potential is lost, lost to the Cosmos forever. Our bodies are machines. Machines can be repaired and rebuilt. One day, perhaps, we can maintain the human machine indefinitely so that none of that is lost. And, why can’t we have both health and happiness. There’s nothing about staying alive that makes life not worth living.

    • Our creativity, knowledge and even love lives on in others. In books, movies, culture, science, in buildings and in many other ways.

But all good things do come to an end, including people. We’ll either disappear, or become something else, unrecognizable to our eyes today. Maybe we’ll be robots or another completely different species. Maybe we’ll just disappear as another sentient, space-faring species is coming to be.

My vote is for androgynous bio-robots, like in the movie A.I.

  4. Guess I’m going to die an early death. =v/ Happens.

  5. Also, I know you guys don’t have cable anymore, and you aren’t keeping up with the Olympics as much, but I was watching diving tonight and saw Matthew Mitcham dive. Before one of his dives they did one of those short video stories about him, detailing his background, his life growing up as gay, and his struggles. It was really nice especially when NBC rarely shows those for the non-American athletes.

I dunno if you can watch it anywhere else…? Or maybe some friends recorded it?

I mean he is very good looking..I could imagine someone recording the whole diving part just for Matthew…

  6. BASboy says:

You also forgot that pretty people die sooner as they are too busy looking at their reflection in windows while walking and not paying attention to where they are going. (can’t tell you how many times I have bumped into people and walls while I was checking myself out 😉

Not to mention left handed people tend to die sooner than right handed people (and the percentage of gay people who are left handed are higher when compared to straight left handed people)

  7. Hey guys, thanks for the shout out! I have not immediate plans to participate in RuPaul’s Drag Race but appreciate the invitation! AND I DO KNOW A THING OR TWO ABOUT MAKEUP! I’m ready for my close-up any day (even if it doesn’t look like it)! Maybe Robert Rodriguez will want to cast me with Danny Trejo (the actor from Machete) in his next movie! Trejo is a great actor and Rodriguez has been brilliant about creating a body of films (Spy Kids, Machete, etc.) with a gifted, recurrent Latina/o cast. And he’s from Austin, Texas!
