Music festivals are great for bringing out the free-spirit in all of us – add some drinks to the mix, and it’s not surprising that people make connections quickly and are more open to sharing the love.

Today Meredith Kachel joins us to talk about how to hookup for sex at festivals, seducing musicians and the difference between hipsters and hippies.

    Comments

  1. On how to hook up with a musician, it worked for me to approach him and say “I came tonight just for you”. Next thing I stayed backstage with him.

  2. Than says:

Bradley Manning is officially transgendered and is now known as Chelsea Manning. Obama has no interest in pardoning or commuting her sentence. The smartest thing Snowden did was run.

  3. Michael D. says:

I have been listening to Lady G’s Applause all week on my run/gym excursions. 🙂

  4. John says:

Are you guys going to talk about Bradley Manning coming out as transgender? I sure hope so. I think its interesting and a bit convenient.

  5. Ladyj says:

I’ma longtime listener and a paid subscriber and enjoy a lot of your coverage. I’ve never found you guys to be offensive toward any part of the LGBTQ community until this episode. Why on EARTH would you point out Ms. Manning’s transition and then refer to her as a he AND by her birth name??? Seriously guys… that’s pretty beneath you to second guess someone’s transition and poke fun at them while simultaneously referring to them as a name and gender they are not… What’s the deal? You guys have never come off as transphobic in such a big way until today…

    • Marc Felion says:

Yes, I fucked up her gender and name many many times in the show. I do apologize. If it were the written word I would have been more careful but when you’re having a conversation, it’s not like you can edit out what you’ve already said. Then they brought attention to it which flustered me even further. Again, I apologize.

    • It’s not easy for anyone to make the announcement to the world that “this is the real me” and also not easy for people to make the adjustment effortlessly.

I’m to blame for making Marc nervous– I thought it would be funny to ring the bell every time someone messed up Chelsea Manning’s name/gender.

A lot of our attempt here was to illustrate how the mainstream media like CNN messed this one up royally by literally quoting Manning “I would like to be referred to in the female pronoun” and then going off to refer to her as “him.” It came across as more sloppy than I liked for it to do so- so you’re right, there was carelessness on our part.

But we ain’t a million dollar operation– this is a podcast taped out of a FEMA trailer, where we sometimes get it wrong in exchange to producing these unique one of a kind shows quickly, that go in-depth to topics like this.

We all can relate to the trans experience because we all have at one point in time questioned our identities, been unhappy with our bodies and felt at odds with the world around us. I find talking about transgender news and interviews with trans folks to be endlessly engaging and informative about the human experience. I think we all can learn from these brave beautiful people.

We don’t always get it right, and we really love it when we get affirmation or corrections from you guys. Please keep it coming! Love you HUNTY xoxox Fausto
