What a delightful episode! Shea Coulee was a pleasure to my ears. The Super Bowl half-time show reached new heights in gayness. Dancing shark boys. Katy riding a giant lion. Ending with an explosion of rainbow color. She is no Beyonce but she entertained me nonetheless.
Poor Bruce Jenner. I hope he finds happiness in his journey to becoming whatever he wants to be. Can we really blame him. He is surrounded by constant beauty. Think of all of those closets chocked full of diamonds and Minolos. Wouldn’t you want to feel a little bit of the fantasy, too? I just hope his family, the Kardashians and the Jenners are there to support him. Move over Laverne Cox, there is a new trans icon coming through! Beep, beep!

Mary Chaney’s comment about drag being like black face does have some value getting a conversation started. Drag pageants can and should be as offensive to gay men as the Miss America Pageant is offensive to the feminist.Not all Drag is offensive, however but it can be and we need to admit that and admonish the jokes or bad stereotypes of woman that are represented by drag in certain circumstances, Just because we as gay men and have been oppressed doesn’t mean we can oppress others with simple representations of woman.
Adore Delano representation of a woman can be as offensive as Honey Boo Boo is to the south as a whole.
Black face is not always as bad as you make it out to be it is a part of theater history just as men being cast as woman is a part of Shakespearean Theater. If you were going to stage a production of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “Showboat” would you include the Black face as part of the production? Should the Disney Movie “Song of the South” be allowed to air on broadcast television or be released on DVD?
John Wates move “Female Trouble” is full of negative stereo types of gay men, like the gay hair dresser scene should we ban that too no but maybe talk about how the stereotypes are hurtful and part of history? The fact that they come from a gay man doesn’t make them any less harmful.
We need to have have a real conversation about the way drag sometimes portrays woman and the values of the LGBT community as a whole. If we about Equality then we must not represent woman in drag in a simple light as drag pageants do.
Again I’m not against drag as a while just queens who think putting a wig and makeup makes them a woman. Should we not read simple queens who just do pageants? Drag Race is about more then that.
