Long before people lined up to meet the reality TV stars from RuPaul’s Drag Race, comedian Charles Pierce packed the clubs from the 1960s to the 90s with his outrageous send ups of Hollywood’s Golden Age divas.

Today we’re joined by actor Kirk Fredrick, whose new book “Write That Down! The Comedy of Male Actress Charles Pierce,” details his work as a producer, stage manager, and dresser to Pierce for over 20 years.

Kirk Frederick seems just so amazing and so informative. He’s in my town, so I need to find a way to sit down and have a drink with him. I’d love to glean what I can from him. Thanks again for putting this interview together. I learn such great things about our history. Love you guys. Mwah!

I confess. I was one who didn’t know anything about Charles Pierce, but now, I want to know more. I’m looking forward to seeing those videos on YouTube. Thanks for doing this show, fellas. I value the edutaining episodes.

Very, very interesting to hear about all of the history I missed out on. I was fortunate to spend 11 years with someone who experienced the 1970s-1980s as a young adult. It was such a different perspective of what it meant to be gay and to do drag. I definitely never experienced even half of the discrimination and hatred that I heard about from that generation. And now, I see the young-uns with a completely different perspective than my experiences as a young man in the 1990s-2000s. What a great interview. Definitely adding this book to my reading list too.
