One of the great challenges we face in bringing about political change is figuring out out how not to get overwhelmed by all the negativity we see in the news and our social media. As awful and terrifying as Trump and the Republicans are right now it’s easy for people to just tune out at a time when everyone needs to be paying close attention.

As we’ve seen in the past, focusing on assets is the most powerful way to fight bigotry and intolerance. And now our friend, the insanely talented Meredith Kachel is raising money this year for charities that fight for human rights. She’s already raised $7,000 of her $10,000 goal in just this month so the rest of the year she’s just gonna be able to coast.

Today, comedian Meredith Kachel joins us to take a look at how to best handle the people in your life who are still Trump supporters even after all the demented policy and appointments he’s made in his first week in office.

I think it’s fair that you are voicing the comments of naysayers, BUT, please keep giving us your opinion. You have an amazing platform to voice your opinion and share news to those listeners who are “not political.” When everyone is silenced, you know humanity has died.

Thank you for the positive thoughts in this episode. I’m so glad when you have Meredith on the show.

well, the ACLU announced that they got more money in donations this past weekend than they do during an entire year. I saw a lot of people matching other people’s donations. Then companies like Lyft have pledged to donate $1,000,000 to the ACLU(over a course of 4 years) as a smart business move to stick it to Uber, who took advantage of the protests by giving people rides with the bonus of no surge-prices during the JFK airport protests when Taxi drivers stopped giving rides for an hour in solidarity.

I don’t mind when you guys get political on the show, you guys at least try to still keep things humorous. It always cheers me up after depressing myself when I read up on the news about what awful thing Trump and his goons have done next. I’ve always felt like people who complain about others for getting political are either on the side of the ones you guys are criticizing, or they want to live their easy lives with their heads stuck in the sand, not wanting to pay attention to what’s currently happening around them

I think you are right- they are supporters or they don’t care. For others, its the way they were raised or something- for whatever reason some listeners from Asia don’t want us to express “strong” opinions about anything.
