‘IT,’the new movie based on the book by Stephen King is slashing box office records with the biggest R rated thriller opening in history. ‘IT’ raked in $218 million in its first 10 days in theaters. Not bad for a movie some say was cursed.
Fans of the ‘IT’ miniseries from the 90s were apprehensive about seeing their childhood destroyed by Hollywood. Nobody could replace Tim Curry as the evil clown Pennywise who terrorized the children of Derry, Maine with red balloons and razor sharp teeth.
Today we’re joined by comedian Brian Sweeney who says ‘IT’ perpetuates the harmful stereotype that clowns in storm drains are child-eating monsters and that he grew up with a lot of kids who talked to clowns in storm drains, and only three of them were ever eaten.
