Apr 1, 2019 · 2164 views

Tom Goss takes on the blockhead in all of us in his new video “Wake Alive” directed by Scott G. Brooks.

For LGBT folks who have spent a good part of their lives hiding their gender or sexual identify it can seem like one of those wild unboxing videos from YouTube when they open up to show the world who they really are.

Today musician Tom Goss, who for years has pioneered new film and music techniques in his music videos joins us to take a look at his new work Wake Alive, directed by filmmaker Scott G. Brooks. The video presents the idea that we literally put ourselves in little boxes and that we are often trapped by the limited perceptions others have of us.

Listen as Tom Goss talks about the mainstreaming of queer musicians on American Idol and RuPaul’s Drag Race, singing on Facebook Live on Friday mornings with Deven and Ned, and the worst gig of his life.
